Bacon County 4-H was excited to host Certified Teen Leader Training (Levels I and II) on May 26, 2026. We welcomed 4-H’ers from five counties for a day dedicated to building leadership skills and preparing the next generation of youth leaders!

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the 4-H’ers who attended, the agents who supported this training, and our amazing Teen Leaders from Bacon and Atkinson County 4-H who helped make the day a success!

Last Tuesday, June 9th, Bacon County 4-H'ers loaded up and headed to Summer Waves Water Park on Jekyll Island for a day of fun in the sunshine! From racing down the thrilling Pirate's Passage slides and catching waves in the Frantic Atlantic wave pool to floating the relaxing Turtle Creek lazy river, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We even got a moment to catch up with two of our 4-H’ers, Payton and Lauren, whose summer jobs just happen to be at Summer Waves!

Smiles were plentiful, sunscreen was put to good use, and memories were made! A huge thank you goes out to our parents, volunteers, and staff who helped make this trip possible and ensured everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience.

Bacon County Extension 4-H held its Annual Blueberry Cooking Contest on May 16, 2026. Join us in congratulating the winners in both the adult and youth categories:

Adult Division:
Tori Boatright – 1st place - Blueberry Cinnamon Roll Casserole

Reminder! Alma-Bacon County Public Library’s and Bacon County Family Connection’s Summer Meals distribution is tomorrow, June 17th, at the Alma-Bacon County Library. Boxed meals for children will be available from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Alma-Bacon County Public Library located at 609 South Bead Street, Alma, GA.

Help spread the word and make sure local children have access to nutritious meals this summer!

Come visit the Bacon Co. 4-H booth in Goldwasser Park at the 2026 GA Blueberry Festival today and tomorrow (June 5th & 6th)!! Our booth is located diagonally across from Alma Telephone Company; look for the big white top tent! 4-H'ers will be selling locally grown blueberries and blueberry plants! Prices of items are as follows:

Blueberries:
Pints $3.00 ea
Clamshells (if available) $5.00 ea
1/2 Flat $15.00 ea (6 pints)
Flat $22.00 each (12 pints)

Blueberry Plants:
1 gal. plants $4.00 ea
3 gal. plants $8.00 ea

We will also have a few of our Blueberry Cookbooks for sale at $10.00 each.

Bacon County 4-H'ers Joycie & Katie Lee, 4-H Summer Intern Aiden Kirkley, and 4-H Agent Becky Griffin assisted the Alma Bacon County Library and BC Family Connection with distributing 100 breakfast and lunch boxes to Bacon County children today. We were happy for the opportunity to serve our community and help ensure local children had access to nutritious meals.

With the help of some awesome BC 4-Hers (Becky Griffin, Aiden Kirkley, and Joycelin and Caitlin Lee), the Alma Bacon County Library and BC Family Connection were able to distribute 100 breakfast and lunch boxes to BC children today. Thanks also to Ware County School Nutrition for allowing us to participate in this program.
