🎨 Watercolor Workshop 🎨

Ready to get creative this fall? Join Gratiot 4-H for a fun and relaxing Watercolor Workshop on November 9th from 6:00–7:30 PM at the Alma Community Art Center!

Participants will have the opportunity to explore watercolor techniques, create their own artwork, and enjoy an evening of creativity in a welcoming environment. Whether you’re brand new to watercolor or already enjoy painting, this workshop is a great chance to try something new and let your creativity shine!

Hey Gratiot County 4-H artists!!! Id love to put together a team (or 2) of a few 4-H youth to create a 4-H Themed Square!!! Who wants to join me? If you are interested please send a message to our facebook or email Ashley at [email protected] !! No cost, something fun to do to promote 4-H in our county! Any questions please reach out!

We are excited to see Chalk-the-Walk returning this year for a fall edition! And just in time for Fall Festival. Please consider helping us chalk the downtown to make it vibrant for the event, or by donating or sponsoring a square if you are less creatively inclined.

📣 GRATIOT 4-H COUNCIL ELECTIONS ARE OPEN! 📣

The Gratiot County 4-H Council is holding elections for the 2026–2027 program year, and we want YOU to be part of the process!

The Gratiot County 4-H Council is made up of:
🔹 8 Adult Members who serve a 2-year term
🔹 2–8 Teen Representatives who serve a 1-year term

👩‍🌾 ADULT COUNCIL MEMBERS
Adult 4-H Council members must be Gold Volunteers with MSU Extension and Gratiot 4-H and will serve a two-year term.

⭐ TEEN 4-H COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES
Teen representatives must be Gratiot County 4-H members between the ages of 13–19 and will serve a one-year term.

🗳️ WHO CAN VOTE?
Gratiot 4-H Gold Volunteers and Gratiot County 4-H members ages 13–19 are eligible to vote for the Gratiot County 4-H Council representatives.

Voting links will be emailed through 4-H Online to eligible 4-H volunteers and members.

🗓️ Voting closes at the end of the Gratiot County 4-H Awards & Recognition Program on October 18.

For those who prefer to vote in person, paper ballots will also be available at the Awards & Recognition Program on October 18.

✨ Take a few minutes to learn more about those running for a position on the Gratiot County 4-H Council and consider who you would like to represent Gratiot 4-H.

A special THANK YOU to everyone who has stepped forward and is willing to give their time, ideas, and leadership to help make Gratiot 4-H a great program for all of our Youth in Gratiot County! 💚

💚🍀 Happy Tuesday of National 4-H Week! 🍀💚

This week, we’re celebrating Gratiot County 4-H and all the incredible things that happen when young people are given the opportunity to learn, lead, grow, and make a difference!

From showing animals and creating projects, to cooking, sewing, archery, crafts, community service, workshops, and so much more—4-H is about so much more than projects. It’s about building confidence, discovering new interests, making friendships, learning life skills, and creating memories that last a lifetime. 🥰

A HUGE thank you to our amazing 4-H youth, families, volunteers, supporters, and community partners who make Gratiot 4-H so special. Your time, talents, encouragement, and dedication help our young people become the leaders of tomorrow. 💚

🍀 Now, we’re asking our community to join us! 🍀

Whether you can volunteer your time, share your skills, sponsor a youth opportunity, support a 4-H fundraiser, welcome a 4-Her into your business or organization, or simply encourage a young person to get involved—YOU can make a difference.

Our youth are the future of Gratiot County, and it takes an entire community to help them thrive. Let’s invest in them, celebrate their accomplishments, and give them even more opportunities to learn, lead, and serve.

🎨 Gratiot 4-H Kinusaiga Craft Workshop

Have you ever made art without using a paintbrush? Come discover the fun of Kinusaiga, a unique Japanese fabric art technique!

Kinusaiga is sometimes called “patchwork without sewing.” Traditionally, artists create colorful pictures by fitting small pieces of fabric into grooves cut into a base. Instead of stitching the pieces together, the fabric is tucked into the grooves to create a beautiful, detailed design.

In this hands-on Gratiot 4-H workshop, youth will get to experiment with fabric, colors, patterns, and textures while creating their own Kinusaiga-inspired piece of art. It’s a fun way to practice creativity, patience, and attention to detail—and the best part is no sewing machine or sewing experience is needed!

📅 Choose from two workshop dates:
Monday, October 12 OR Wednesday, October 14

🕕 Both classes begin at 6:00 PM
📍 Gratiot MSU Extension Office
💲 Cost: $5 per youth

Youth will choose one of the two available workshop dates. Space and supplies are limited, so be sure to register and submit your $5 payment by October 9 at the Gratiot MSU Extension Office.

If you want to participate in this workshop but haven’t enrolled in Gratiot County 4-H yet, no worries! You can enroll in our General 4-H Experience and join us for this workshop and all of the other fun educational and hands-on workshops we offer throughout the year!
