It's that time again! I'd love to hear from our amazing friends and followers about what you'd like to see more of on our social media.

Last time, we received a request for more videos, so we've been working on that, but I'd love to hear what else you'd all like to see!

Along with sharing stories and updates about our residents, a few ideas that came to mind include sharing some of the routine medical care we handle (beak trims, foot soaks, leg wraps, giving medications, etc.) and some of the enrichment ideas we've introduced over the years.

Drop a comment below or head over to our story and let us know what you'd like to see more of!

Could Patrick be any more perfect? I sprinkled some food around their run today and Patrick didn't hesitate to call Izzy over so she could eat first.

There are a lot of misconceptions about roosters and it gets even worse when you start talking about roosters rescued from cockfighting cases. Patrick might just be the sweetest rooster here. He is so dedicated to Izzy and makes sure she's all set before he thinks about his own needs. What a perfect gentleman.

Remember the fundraiser we did a few months back to raise money for a special coop for our special ladies Holly and Cherry? Well, one of this weekend's projects was getting them all set up in their new run and coop!

I decided to put their run within the Chaos Run, at least for now. This way they have the benefit of the roof, windbreaks, fans, etc. that we already have within the Chaos Run AND they have some increased socialization from neighbors stopping by to say hi through the ivy walls.

Tonight, as I went to start the bedtime routine, this is how I found Cherry. She seems pretty content with the new setup and I think she's happy that she can get in and out of her coop without assistance.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our fundraiser to make this possible. I'm still working on adding some additional enrichment items that are safe for Cherry's mobility limitations but her and Holly seem happy in their new home.

This is not how I wanted this post to go. Last Friday, I took in a very special hen with pretty severe crossbeak. Her people cared about her and were worried she wasn't getting the nutrition she needed. Rosie was severely underweight - about 1000g below what she should have weighed - and was unable to walk (we believe due to gout).

Over the past week, I've had the privilege of working with an incredible team of people as we tried to save her, from those experienced with crossbeaks to our amazing veterinary team.

Despite gaining weight and showing signs of improvement, Rosie passed away this morning. We believe she was in organ failure. I fought so hard for this little chicken, and she fought right alongside me.

I wanted to share a post in a week or two about how Rosie had beaten the odds. I wanted to tell a success story. But that's not the story I get to share.

Instead, I get to share that Rosie spent her last week knowing she was loved. We spent our days together while I worked, watched TV together in the evenings and got to know one another. This isn't the story I wanted to tell, but I'm grateful I got the chance to meet her. Fly high little one.

Check out the added security on those windows! I ran out of washers (more arriving tomorrow) so that's it for tonight but more hardware cloth has been cut to size and I'll keep on going tomorrow! It might not be a glamorous job or look at that nice but it's secure and I'm happy!

Today we're starting a new treatment for the Parsnip-dude! Over the past few weeks he's been slowing down and laying down a lot more than usual. Due to a severe joint infection in his right leg joint as a baby Parsnip, he has pretty severe arthritis. Parsnip is on a daily regime of anti-inflammatories, pain medications, and a joint supplement along with tumeric and black pepper. Since changing up the medication and adding in the tumeric, he's been seeming a little more comfortable. Today we added in Epsom salt wraps! This was something our friends over at Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve recommended and we're giving it a go!

We soaked gauze in a Epsom salt and water paste and then wrapped his leg in gauze and vet wrap. Once it's dry we'll remove it, clean it up, and apply arnica gel. This will become part of Parsnip's afternoon routine moving forwards but we had a little extra time this morning so wanted to try. So far he's pecking away at my overalls and doesn't seem remotely bothered by his leg wrap! Woohoo!

Queen Nugget has bumblefoot, an infection in her foot. She has these cute little chubby feet and seems very prone to it. We've soaked, cleaned, and bandaged her little foot and she wasn't so impressed. We made up for it with some cuddles and cucumber after.
