Zucchini was feeling a little camera shy while at the vets today. Not only is she molting (feathers EVERYWHERE) but her right eye was swollen for the past few days. It's looking much better today but we had her checked out just in case. The vet thinks she may have gotten pecked in the eye and she's on an antibiotic eye drop for the next few days.

She might be molting but check out her beautiful feathers!

It's hard to believe that this still exists. But here we are, once again. I took this photo 3 years ago behind a grocery store in New Jersey in a shopping complex that includes a Home Depot. Cruelty to animals. Ritual sacrifice. And most people don't even know it's happening.

Well, sometimes things don't go as planned. And as much as we try to think through possible scenarios, accidents do happen. Shana has a wound about an inch from her tail. It was likely caused by Ari trying to be a little overly amorous. We routinely trim spurs here to try to avoid this but, unfortunately, it happened. Shana is doing great though! She's been living in the chicken hospital and we've been following the directions of our veterinary team. Antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory, manuka honey, and frequent bandage changes. She's a great little coworker!
