Good Neighbor Week is almost here — three weeks, three communities, and a record 53 neighbors who asked for a hand this year. That's more than double our usual, and it means we need you.

Here's the best part: you pick the spot that fits. Browse the open projects by date and skill, claim the one that works for you, and give a few hours that make a neighbor's whole home — and week — better. No experience required, just willing hands.

Handy? Your skills can change a neighbor's home. 🔨

We're looking for handy, semi-pro, and tradesperson volunteers to donate a few hours on specific repair tasks for neighbors who can't do them alone — your skills, gifted to a neighbor.

Tasks we need help with:

🏠 Siding repair
🪟 Window repair/replacement
🪜 Reattaching soffit and gutters
🔩 Railing work
🪛 Cabinet mounting
🚪 Door removal, installation, lock repair, latching, and sealing a service-door gap + adjustments
♿ Installing safety bars
🛠️ …and a couple more small fix-it tasks

Good Neighbor Week isn't just one week — we've got projects your crew can tackle on a day that works for you and the homeowner!
🌿 Mulching + gutter cleaning — a group of ~6, about a half day
🪵 Hauling wood + cleaning gutters — 3 volunteers, half a day
📅 July 22 — help clean up a neighbor's yard (a group of ~4, about a half day)
📅 Aug 20 — prep and paint a garage (4 volunteers)

No experience needed — just willing hands and a few hours. Bring your coworkers, family, team, or club.

However you spend the 4th — parade downtown, brats in the backyard, fireworks over the bay — it all comes back to community. That's the whole idea behind Good Neighbor Week, and Allouez kicks us off in about 6 weeks (Aug 16–22).

Good Neighbor Week wants to thank Angie, a 2025 Good Neighbor Week recipient, for sharing her incredible story with NeighborWorks Green Bay not once but twice in the last few weeks. By sharing her experience at the Good Neighbor Bus Tour and the Good Neighbor Tour at our Annual Celebration, more people have learned about this local, volunteer driven initiative. Neighbors helping neighbors, it's just what we do!

💙 Every home has a story.
During our Good Neighbor Bus Tour, participants heard from Angie, a 2025 Good Neighbor Week homeowner. While her story is one of resilience, determination, and gratitude, it is unfortunately not unique in our community.

Many homeowners face challenges that make it difficult to keep up with minor home repairs and yard maintenance. Through Good Neighbor Week, NeighborWorks Green Bay partners with Green Bay Neighborhoods, the City of Green Bay, the Village of Allouez, and this year, the De Pere Area Chamber and City of De Pere, to help homeowners address those needs.

Angie shared what it meant to have volunteers step in and lend a hand. These volunteers wear their hearts on their sleeves, dedicating their time and talents to help neighbors make improvements that keep homes safe, well-maintained, and accessible for years to come.

The impact goes beyond a repaired porch, cleaned yard, or fresh coat of paint. It's about preserving dignity, creating stability, and helping neighbors remain in the homes and communities they love.

💙 A huge THANK YOU to our community for the incredible response to this year’s Good Neighbor Week! 🏡

We received 53 applications — the most in our 7-year history 🎉 This record number reflects both the growing needs in our neighborhoods and the amazing trust our community places in this program.

Our assessment team-all volunteers- has been hard at work 👷‍♀️🛠️ visiting homesites, meeting neighbors, and identifying the projects and repairs needed most. Their time, care, and dedication are helping shape another impactful Good Neighbor Week.

Next, the team will review all assessments 📋 and determine the final projects selected — up to 10 in Green Bay and up to 5 in each of the Village of Allouez and City of De Pere .

Thank you to everyone who applied, is volunteering their time and talents, and supported this effort to help neighbors thrive together 🤝✨
