Caring for students goes beyond what happens in the classroom. ❤️

At EduNations, we recognize that challenges outside of school can affect a child's ability to learn and grow.

Through our Psychological and Social Support Program, trained social workers and Child Protection Agents work alongside students, families, and communities to address these challenges.

The program provides counseling, care for students who have lost parents, and practical resources like sanitary kits for girls. It also raises awareness about important issues such as child marriage, female ge***al mutilation (FGM), and children's rights.

As we continue highlighting girls' education this week, we're thankful for the people who help care for our students and advocate for their safety and well-being.

Meet Mariatu Kargbo ❤️

Mariatu is a Senior Secondary 1 student at EduNations who hopes to one day use her education to help others in the community.

Mariatu lost both of her parents at a young age and now lives with her aunt, who supports their family through farming. With limited financial resources, continuing her education has been challenging.

The encouragement of her teachers and classmates has helped Mariatu grow in confidence and stay focused on her education. Inspired by her own family's experience with illness, she dreams of becoming a nurse.

For many girls in Sierra Leone, one of the most meaningful parts of education is having a place where they feel safe and supported.

Barriers such as poverty, child marriage, and female ge***al mutilation (FGM) can put girls' safety and well-being at risk, making it challenging for them to stay in school.

At EduNations, we believe education should care for the whole child - not only academically, but also physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

With International Day of the Girl Child earlier this week, we're taking the time to celebrate the girls in our schools and their hopes for the future. ❤️

🎉 Please join us in welcoming Lydia Lowery to the EduNations team as our new Project & Grant Coordinator!

Lydia brings a background in educational nonprofit development, fundraising, event planning, and marketing. She enjoys bringing creativity and authenticity in storytelling to her work and is especially passionate about making quality Christian education accessible and providing life-altering opportunities for students in Sierra Leone.

Her passion is fueled by her own gratitude for the Christian education she received and the impact it has had on her life.

Lydia holds a Humanities degree with a specialization in Rhetoric and Writing from Lancaster Bible College. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and traveling to new places.

We are excited to welcome Lydia to this new role and are grateful to have her as part of the EduNations team! ❤️🇸🇱

Today, we celebrate the teachers who ignite hope. ❤️

Our teachers in Sierra Leone serve their students with incredible dedication. Many choose to leave behind the comforts of home to live and serve in communities far away.

Day after day, they faithfully show up to teach, encourage their students, model Christ's love, and share the hope of the Gospel.

Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom. Through their commitment, students are growing in every area of their lives and being equipped to shape their communities.

Today, we thank God for each of our teachers and the sacrifices they make to educate and care for their students so well.
