Thoughtful conversations. Lots of laughter. All of our Circles, together.

In September, members traveled from across the state for our first All-Circles
Retreat. We shared ideas, asked big questions and got to know the people and
perspectives behind each Circle.

For the first time, all of our Snow-Redfern circles were in the same room. 💛

And something clicked.

We didn’t just talk about sociocracy and participatory grantmaking. We experienced why they matter: youth, community, and organizational perspectives all shaping the conversation together.

For a model that has taken some navigating through the “saggy middle,” this weekend felt a whole lot like reaching the other side. ✨

Meet Jack O'Brien and Amelia Wade, two young leaders in our 2026 Youth Leadership Cohorts.

Jack brings determination, curiosity and a willingness to hear different perspectives. He wants to help build a world where empathy and understanding come before judgment.

Amelia combines creativity with thoughtful communication and hopes to create spaces where young people feel comfortable asking questions, learning about themselves and being who they are.

Together, they're growing their voices, building leadership skills and thinking big about the change they want to create.

What happens when young people are trusted to make a difference?

The Changemakers Project gave students at Launch Leadership opportunity to do more than learn about community impact—they created it.

Students researched causes they cared about, shared why those issues mattered and voted to direct funding to nonprofit organizations making a difference in their own communities. Along the way, they strengthened their leadership skills, amplified their voices and discovered the power they have to create positive change.

It's participatory philanthropy in action—and one example of the opportunities
supported by Snow-Redfern Foundation.
