Good Morning and Happy Snow Day!!!

First of all, have no fear our staff is here! Between our volunteers and career staff, we are at the station should any needs arise!

Please, there is no reason why ANYONE needs to go out in this mess. Unless you are essential, please stay home. No need for you to jeopardize our members and staff because you’re venturing out to “see how it is”

One big important thing for portable or stand-alone generators, make sure that the unit is CLEAR of snow, especially the exhaust. It will hinder proper operations if not properly cleaned around.

Stay safe, stay home, be careful clearing your driveways and sidewalks and enjoy the picturesque scenery.

⚠️⚠️⚠️TRAVEL ADVISORY⚠️⚠️⚠️

Please be safe in traveling around our roadways today. With winds sustained at 25mph and gusting higher than that, fresh snow that fell last night will blow back out into our roadways causing hazardous conditions in some spots, especially in open field areas.

The section of 539 between Walnford Road and Polhemustown Road is extremely dangerous as the road is completely snow covered. Please use extreme caution when traveling in this area.

No ice is safe ice! As temperatures stay below freezing, our lakes and ponds will look like they are frozen over, but that does not mean they are safe to walk on. Please, stay off the frozen lakes, ponds and creeks, regardless how frozen you think they are.

With a prolonged period of temperatures below freezing, ice is expected to form on our lakes, rivers, and streams. Here are some ice safety tips to follow and keep in mind for the upcoming week. Stay safe!

Number of great information in the attached photos when it comes to the Winter Storm tonight and into tomorrow. Most important?

🚨🚨GENERATOR SAFETY🚨🚨

⚠️Keep portable generators at least 20ft away from structures
⚠️Make sure it is in a well ventilated area
⚠️NEVER use the generator inside homes or buildings, even garages with the door open
⚠️Place generator exhaust away from windows and doors so exhaust can not get into your home.

We are going to need your assistance to keep hydrants clear during and after the storm is done. Make sure all vehicles are off public roadways to ensure the road crews have a clear path for snow removal. MOST IMPORTANTLY, bundle up if you’re going out to shovel or clean off your cars. It is a little chilly outside and does not take long for the cold air to affect your body.
