Welcome Birdie to Hair of the Dog Rescue!

Everyone meet Birdie — a beautiful 9-month-old Pyrenees / Treeing Walker Coonhound mix who’s already winning hearts with her gentle spirit and sweet personality. 💛

Birdie is the kind of pup who quietly takes it all in — she’s a little shy at first, but give her a moment and you’ll see just how incredibly intelligent and thoughtful she is. She’s the type who will form a deep bond with her people and thrive in a home that gives her patience and love as she continues to come out of her shell.

She’s got some wonderful basics down already:
✔️ Crate trained
✔️ House trained
✔️ Walks beautifully on a leash
✔️ Dog-friendly with pups of all sizes

Birdie also tested well with cats at the shelter, though she hasn’t lived with one in a home yet — so slow, thoughtful introductions will set her up for success there.

With her brains, gentle nature, and stunning good looks, Birdie is going to make an amazing companion for a lucky family. She just needs someone to help her build confidence and show her the world isn’t such a scary place after all.

🐾✨ SHE FOUND HER FOREVER HOME! ✨🐾

Gypsy — an 11-month-old sweetheart who came to us a little shy, a whole lot of loving, and full of potential just waiting to bloom. 🌸

Gypsy is proof that sometimes the quietest souls have the biggest hearts. This gentle girl may have taken a moment to warm up, but once she did? Pure magic.

That's exactly what our Foster to Adopt program is all about. 💛 Rather than a leap of faith into the unknown, foster to adopt gives dogs like Gypsy — and the families who open their hearts and homes — the gift of TIME. Time to learn each other's rhythms. Time to build trust. Time to discover that yes, this really is the one. No pressure, no guessing — just a beautiful friendship unfolding naturally until it becomes something permanent.

Welcome Gypsy to Hair of the Dog Rescue!

Everyone, meet Gypsy — an 11-month-old Beagle/Shepherd mix with the sweetest soul and the gentlest heart. At 35 pounds, she’s the perfect “just right” size for couch cuddles, adventure walks, and everything in between. 💛

Gypsy joined us through no fault of her own after her family went through a divorce. While her world changed overnight, she’s handled it with incredible grace. She’s submissive, gentle, and quietly affectionate — the kind of dog who melts into you when you pet her and looks at you like she’s been yours forever.

Gypsy is currently settling into a wonderful foster-to-adopt home, where she’s decompressing and getting the love and stability she deserves.

So far, Gypsy has shown us that she’s:
🐶 Sweet and loving
🐶 Gentle and well-mannered
🐶 Submissive and eager to please
🐶 An all-around easy, lovely girl

We’re so excited for Gypsy as she begins this next chapter surrounded by care, patience, and kindness.

3 year old Fleeter needs a home! Fleeter is a Miniature Dachshund and is up to date on shots and neutered. He is living harmoniously with children and dogs of all sizes. He is very sweet! Snip Snip Hooray 🎉

Yesterday, Scout and Fleeter officially lost their balls and gained their responsible adult privileges! 😅✂️

That’s right — these two brave boys went in for their neuter appointments and came out a little lighter in the caboose and a whole lot safer for the world.

But don’t worry — these lads will quickly be back to their favorite activities:
✔️ Scout zooming around like nothing happened
✔️ Fleeter snoozing like he’s on a permanent vacation

They’re both feeling fine (just slightly less… equipped 😆).

If you see them today, they might be walking a bit funny, but that’s just the new walk of responsibility.

🐶🐶 Double the Paws, Double the Love – Welcome Scout & Fleeter! 🐾

Please help us welcome Scout and Fleeter to the Hair of the Dog family!

These two adorable boys were lovingly surrendered due to their owner’s health challenges.

✨ Scout is a 1.5-year-old silky Yorkie with a playful spirit and a big love for cuddles. He’s an energetic little guy who enjoys playtime just as much as he enjoys curling up with his people.

✨ Fleeter is a 3-year-old dachshund with a sweet, mellow personality. He’s happiest snuggled up nearby, keeping an eye on the action and soaking in all the love.

While they came from the same home, Scout and Fleeter are not bonded and will be adopted separately, so each can find the perfect match for their individual personalities and needs.

Both boys are:
✔️ Purebred with papers
✔️ Microchipped
✔️ Up to date on vaccinations
✔️ Scheduled to be neutered

They’re currently being fostered in a home with dogs of all sizes and are doing wonderfully. They’ve also been tolerant and gentle with kids.

We’re excited to get to know these two better as they settle in. Stay tuned for updates as we learn more about their personalities and what kind of forever homes will help them thrive!

🐾 Welcome, Suzy! 🐾

Please join us in welcoming Suzy, a sweet Shih Tzu mix who just joined the Hair of the Dog family! 💕

Suzy is under 2 years old and was surrendered through no fault of her own. She’s just beginning her journey with us, and we’re taking time to get to know her personality, needs, and all the little things that make her special.

For now, we are not accepting applications while we learn more about Suzy and help her settle in. We’ll share updates as she decompresses and shows us who she really is.

Meet Peaches! She is a 1.5 yr old ShihTsu mix. This tiny (11lbs) bundle of love wants to find the perfect forever home where she can live out her dream of being a lap dog/companion. Peaches loves to snuggle, she’s doesn’t mind other dogs and she’s been fostered with kids and has done well. Peaches is housebroken, utd on shots, microchipped and ready to go to her new home! Carrie, black and tan, age 7, and Skinny Joe, tan, age 10, need forever homes! They are fully vetted and very friendly. They are being fostered with cats and dogs and children. They do not need a home together.

Tank needs to see a vet! Can you help us offset his costs? He came to us from a not-so-great situation. He is a 5 month old boxer who has just been taken in to foster and will be available for adoption soon. He is sweet, playful and gets along with other dogs. He’s working on potty training and basic commands. Tank is currently being fostered in Coopersburg, Pa.
