Today is , and we’re joining YWCA USA and sister YWCAs all over the world to call attention to the fact that child marriage is still allowed in a whopping 33 states here in the U.S.

Child marriage creates barriers to the ability of girls to access education and financial stability and significantly increases the likelihood of experiencing domestic violence for children into their adulthood. This share this post to call attention to the problem and to remind our elected leaders that solutions are possible.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month Myth vs. Fact

Myth: Domestic violence only involves physical harm.

Fact: Domestic violence can be physical, emotional, financial, and psychological.

Abuse may look like constant criticism, manipulation, controlling access to money, online stalking, threatening messages, or sharing private images without consent. Not all abuse leaves visible bruises, but all abuse can have lasting impacts.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, let's expand our understanding of abuse and help create communities built on respect, safety, and healthy relationships.

Domestic violence doesn’t always look the way we expect.

Abuse can take many forms—including emotional, financial, sexual, and psychological abuse—and it often involves patterns of power and control.

Knowing the signs can help us recognize unhealthy behaviors, support someone we care about, and remind survivors that abuse is never their fault.

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, support is available. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

YWCAs from across Pennsylvania gathered at YWCA Lancaster for a behind-the-scenes look at the exciting renovations to their historic building — including new affordable housing units and a state-of-the-art counseling center.

Beyond the tour, it was a great opportunity to connect with fellow YWCA leaders, exchange ideas, and talk about how we can continue advocating for the needs of women and families across Pennsylvania.
