We are saddened by the incident that transpired on our property late Sunday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were injured. At this time, East Side Youth Center is fully cooperating with the ongoing Allentown Police investigation of this incident.

It is important to keep in mind that this incident occurred during a time when no youth activities were happening. We are working with APD and the Mayor’s Office to ensure that our facility remains a safe space for young people to engage in athletic activities.

We appreciated having Mayor Matthew Tuerk with us at our members’ meeting tonight to game plan with us on furthering youth sports here in Allentown.

Thankful for being here in Allentown, Pennsylvania & serving our community’s youth. We welcome volunteers to our organization. Please reach out if you’d like to assist or just join us at our 7pm members’ meeting on the 1st Tuesday of the month in our social hall (building on the Maxwell Street side).

The Preseason Basketball League provides a forum for coaches and players to prepare for the upcoming winter season and improve their game while playing alongside their peers. featuring teams from across the Lehigh Valley, Poconos, New Jersey, and beyond.

Who:
Boys Grades 3 - 4 / 5 - 6 (NCAA Division) and Boys Grade 7 - 8 (NBA Division)
Girls Grades 3 - 4 / 5 - 6 (NCAA Division) and Girls Grade 7 - 8 (WNBA Division)

What and When: Evaluation / Skills & Drills Sessions

- Saturday September 11th Evaluation / Player Draft Day 10 am – 11:00 am (Girls)

- Saturday September 11th Evaluation / Player Draft Day 11 am – 12:00 pm (Boys)

- Saturday September 18th Evaluation / Player Draft Day 10 am – 12 pm (Girls)

- Saturday September 18th Evaluation / Player Draft Day 11 am – 12:00 pm (Boys)

The league will run from 11 am - 4 pm on Saturdays and 11 am – 4 pm on Sundays beginning Saturday September 25th and ending Sunday November 7th.

- NCAA Grades 3 - 4 / 5 - 6 will play on Saturday Mornings (9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6)

- NBA / WNBA Grades 7-8 will play on Sunday Afternoon (9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/7)

We are saddened at the loss of one of the most genuine men and greatest volunteers that Allentown has ever seen. Jay leaves behind a legacy of caring for the kids in our community by faithfully serving the mission of youth sports on the east-side. His life has affected so many of us. If you can take time to comment on this post some memories of him, it would be greatly appreciated.

Where do I even start. Mr John Radio is more than amazing. He was more than a friend. He was the greatest mentor. He was the greatest person to calmly explain how to do things the right way. (He always did everything the right way) He was most loyal friend anyone could ask for!! He was the most giving man I know!! Selfless!! Humble!! He sacrificed his spare time to help Joe build an empire in our beloved youth center. There isn’t a place that we travel that the name Jay Radio doesn’t ring bells!! Truly an angel was on earth in the form of a human being!! Jay was the best man I have ever met in life. Trust me when I say there will never be another!! Truly blessed to be mentored by you these past 12 years!! And I only hope I can continue to make you proud!! Rest in Paradise!! I know you will always be with us in our Hearts!! Love You Mr Radio!! My heart hurts today!!! God Bless Mrs Radio & Family!!!

ESYC is closed until further notice TO EVERYONE AT ALL TIMES AS OF 8PM tonight 3/16. (indefinitely but most likely for 2 weeks) due to all the govt announcements to close non-essential business.
