Philadelphia Inquirer: Esernio-Jenssen is facing multiple civil lawsuits brought by parents she diagnosed with “medical child abuse.”

Parents in Lehigh Valley accused Debra Esernio-Jenssen of diagnosing them with a rare condition of abusing children through fake medical diagnoses. Esernio-Jenssen will retire March 31.

"We remain focused on working with Lehigh County and all other jurisdictions to protect children," the email said.

Dr. Debra D. Esernio-Jenssen, a Lehigh Valley Health Network physician facing multiple lawsuits over alleged child abuse misdiagnoses, has announced her retirement. Separately, Lehigh County announced it will create a new "community centered" Child Advocacy Center.

Lehigh County Controller Mark Pinsley held a news conference to ask county officials to "evaluate the extent of potential intimidation" to cover up his report that alleges “systemic overdiagnosis” of the abuse.

“One thing that's very encouraging when people stand together is other people feel that they're not alone, and they come forward,” Malifoy said.

"Plaintiffs in mass tort suits each still are treated as individuals and each present their cases. In class action suits, the group is represented by one case."

Francis Malofiy of law firm Francis Alexander on Friday filed a writ of summons for a class action suit against LVHN. Malofiy said this lawsuit will be similar to another filed last week, which alleges 12 families were falsely accused of child abuse.
