Congratulations Joe!! After 39 years of dedicated service to the Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) Fire Department, Lt. Joe McShane made the tough decision to retire.

The members of Local 2227 were grateful to put together a little fairwell party. Surrounded by family and friends, Joe was presented with a Certificate of Recognition for his years of service. It featured every patch Joe has worn throughout his career. Joe served not only as a Lieutenant, he was also an EMT, instructor, mentor, father figure, and most importantly a friend. Joe leaves behind big shoes to fill!

Enjoy your retirement Joe! Without a doubt you will be missed! You always have a home here at Station 41!

This past week our crew completed our annual FAA Part 139 live fire training using the Fire Force mobile aircraft trainer at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). A combination of interior and exterior skills were completed along with truck ops. Our brothers from Trenton-Mercer Airport Fire Department and other Pro-Tec sites joined us, as well as a couple of our mutual aid partners. A special shout-out to Deiter Bros Heating Cooling Energy for providing us with the propane to make this happen!

We are heartbroken by the news. April is the wife of one of our own. Please keep the Lubenetski’s in your thoughts and prayers as everyone navigates through this challenging time.

It is with profound sadness that the members of Local 5004 announce that Master Firefighter April Lubenetski, a 24 year veteran of the department, has died in the Line of Duty (Occupational Cancer) on 19MAY2025. Despite the tirelesss efforts of her dedicated team of medical professionals, her nearly year long battle with occupational cancer ended this evening, surrounded by family and friends.

April has dedicated more than two decades of her life serving the citizens of Emmaus & surrounding areas of Lehigh County. During her tenure, April served with steadfast courage, unwavering determination, and honor. Her character, compassion, and dedication to her fellow firefighters shall never be forgotten.

We ask the public to keep Captain Shawn Lubenetski & the entire Lubenetski Family in their thoughts and prayers during this tragic time. We stand together to mourn the loss of a true hero and amazing woman.

Details of services will be forthcoming.

C-shift drilled today with some search and rescue operations with our training B727 aircraft. Crew had to search for two unaccounted people (manikins) in a smoked filled cabin while also bringing in a dry line. Post drill, crew did a debrief on what we would change and how to improve our operations. Always working to improve ourselves for our travelers! Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE)
