Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Food & Nutrition and a Master of Science in Clinical Dietetics, Elizabeth Kalafut ’24 & ’25 took a unique career path. She purchased the Grove Street Bakery in Bloomington, Illinois, which is a well-loved community staple. “I wanted to preserve something people loved while also bringing new energy and ideas into the space,” Elizabeth said. While learning to run a business, she has also used her background in dietetics to implement new products!

Elizabeth describes her time at Grand Valley as transformative, supportive, and empowering. Her advice for success: “Do not struggle alone. Leaning on your team, your community, and your support system makes all the difference.”

Looking ahead, Elizabeth hopes to create a space that brings people together while also building a platform that gives back to the community.
