Magnolia Fisheries inspected and treated the pond Sept. 19 2025. Below is important information regarding the treatment.

Terrestrial Vegetation Treatment (Sediment) - Terrestrial vegetation growing in sediment was treated. Please allow up to 14 days for the vegetation to begin to turn brown. We will inspect the treatment in 10-14 days and perform any touch up (spot) treatments at that time. We used a systemic product that will take 30-45 days to completely kill the roots. DO NOT remove vegetation for 45 days from the final treatment.

Water Primrose Treatment - The pond was treated for shoreline water vine today. The vegetation will turn brown and decompose over the next 10 days. Water primrose is resilient and retreatments will be required throughout the growing season.

With over 33,000 vehicles using McDermott Drive daily, the City of Allen is taking steps to keep this busy roadway in great condition.

This August, crews will apply a thin asphalt overlay on McDermott Drive, between Watters Rd. and Allen Dr., extending the road’s life by 8–15 years. The project is the first of its kind in Allen and follows months of concrete repairs.

Here are the benefits:
✅ Smoother drive
✅ Better lane visibility
✅ Less road noise
✅ Protected pavement beneath

Most of the work will happen overnight to minimize impact, with completion expected by the end of August (weather permitting).

Stay Weather Aware, Allen! ⛈️

Severe storms are possible in our area from Tuesday evening through Friday, bringing heavy rainfall, hail, and damaging winds. While the forecast remains uncertain, it is important to have a reliable way to receive alerts—like weather apps, a weather radio, or local news notifications. Residents should secure outdoor items and write their home addresses on their trash and recycling carts to help identify them if they blow away.

The Allen Fire Department will post updates when the outdoor warning system is activated. These sirens are strategically placed around the city and are designed to alert those outdoors to take shelter immediately.

The sirens will sound for:
✅ Winds greater than 70 mph
✅ Hail larger than one inch
✅ Tornado warnings issued by the National Weather Service
✅ Cloud rotation reported by trained weather spotters

Have a plan for shelter and stay aware of flash flooding risks.
