Allen Youth Center We believe the future of our community is already here. The Allen Youth Center is operated by the Oglala Lakota of Allen, SD.

Our mission is to empower youth with the confidence, opportunities, cultural connection, and support they need to become the leaders, changemakers, and caretakers of tomorrow. It works to enrich the lives of community youth through culturally-based activities and learning experiences.

Introducing Our Stories in Color, a recurring art program at the Allen Youth Center! 🎨

For our first gathering this Friday, October 2, we’re honored to welcome renowned Oglala Lakota artist Merle Locke. Known for his colorful paintings and Lakota ledger art, Merle will teach community members how to paint as we come together to learn and create.

Kids, adults, and elders are all welcome to participate, and we’ll provide dinner and drinks for everyone attending the class.

Sign up/register at 3:45pm at the Allen Youth Center

Please remember that the center will be reserved for class participants during this time. Regular drop-in activities will be paused so everyone has room to focus and enjoy painting together.

Yesterday was so much fun! We started the day off receiving a big donation of clothes and supplies for the center & community, we made home made pizza, had a glow stick dance party and then a spa night ☺️ thank you to all the parents who raised these awesome girls, they are building community and friendship here that is so important for them.

Is a boys lock in next?? Or maybe tiny tots?? 🫪 what do you guys think?!

We're going to be closed today, we had a lock in last night and staff needs to go home and rest. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, and we will have a small basketball tournament Tuesday evening as well. Thank you for understanding.
