Mission Statement:
“If you never had to stand up to something – to get up, to be knocked down, and to get up again – life can walk over you wearing football cleats. But each time you do get up, you’re bigger, taller, finer, more beautiful, more kind, more understanding, more loving. More people can stand under your umbrella.” – Maya Angelou

We believe that through struggles comes strength and res

ponsibility. When we overcome those struggles, we come out stronger than before and it is that strength that gives us the umbrella we can then hold for others.

What a wonderful day to serve good food, essentials, and smiles to those in our community who are struggling. We bring food and essential supplies for Wash Wednesday each month but this month we were able to team with Credit Union of Texas Charitable Foundation to serve fresh burgers and our friends at Helping Hands, Open Hearts to give Girl Scout cookies! These treats help show our vulnerable communities that we care and support them and that there are better days to come as long as there is hope.

Thank you Dana and Katy for your donations.
Thank you Prism Health North Texas Earth Breeze and Swanson Health.
Thank you for the hospitality Making It Count, Inc and for the work you do for our community.

The gentleman in the last picture recognized our founder. He said, "I rememeber you asked that lady who beat her up and she said, 'He did it.'" Our founder showed him that we are now offering women pepper spray and alarms because of that interaction. He said, "I'm glad. They need that. No one should be hitting on ladies like that." And he got his food and supplies and offered to pose for a picture.

Many of the larger encampments have been swept so we drove around a bit. Two people (a younger gentleman and a senior lady) were seeking shelter from the rain under a bridge. Our founder stopped to offer food and supplies. The gentleman seemed nervous. Our founder then brought the meals to both of them instead of having them walk to the car and she noticed that the gentleman had a bruise on the side of his face. He then said, "I'm sorry. I'm grateful for anything. But I just got here from Sherman and you gotta be careful around here. Hard to trust people." Completely understandable. He was also very protective of the older lady that he refers to as his mom. Despite whatever he has been through, we left with his trust and his gratitude and his smile of renewed hope.

We are indebted to our community partners for the opportunity to uplift our most vulnerable. Thank you Boba Latte Hoja Bubble Tea and Asian Street Food Sweet Bri's Bakery Swanson Health Prism Health North Texas Thank you Marti and Samantha for your donations.

There is only one time that is important - Now! It is the most important time because it is the only time when we have any real power. -Leo Tolstoy, Three Questions

CommUNITY happened and this month we were able to assist 3 families facing food insecurity.

Family 1: Last week while shopping, our founder noticed a family taking items out of their cart at the self checkout. The mom disclosed that she had been struggling with childcare costs, pending benefits, and had little left for groceries. We insisted that she put the items back in her cart and we covered her groceries.

Family 2: A hardworking family needed a little help with food. Our founder asked for a list of items and insisted she select some protein and household itemd even though she said she didn't want to ask for too much. We were able to send a delivery today, including protein and household items.

Family 3: Our founder received an urgent text yesterday for food. Our Rainy Day fund was depleted so she dropped off what she had in her freezer and giftcards from Credit Union of Texas Charitable Foundation. Due to your kindness, our Rainy Day fund was replenished so she was able to take this young family shopping. When asked to pick out a treat, the 7 year old chose a Dr. Pepper to gift her teacher for the end of the school year.

Our Rainy Day program relies on the kindness of donors. Thank YOU for taking immediate action so that these families did not have to go hungry.

Our Rainy Day program helps hold the line for those needing small but urgent assistance.

This single mom is in between jobs and her food assistance benefits are pending but meanwhile, her child is hungry and she is saving the last eggs she had to feed her daughter. She reached out last night and we made a special delivery that evening so that this family didn't have to go to bed hungry.

Thank you Credit Union of Texas for the giftcards, Earth Breeze for the detergent sheets, Her Better Tomorrow for the period products, and our supporters who made this possible.

Our Rainy Day funds are depleted as we have helped 2 other families earlier this week. If you would like to help us give this family more groceries to help them get through until benefits kick in, we know this family would appreciate your kindness very much.
