I (Jannette Quackenbush) will be offering a night hike and ghost hunt on Thursday, August 7 & Friday, August 8, 2025, in collaboration with the Bea Outdoors Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival at 8:45 p.m., telling local ghost and Bigfoot stories told in the area we are hiking, followed by a ghost hunt at the famous and haunted tunnel.

Register at my booth during the festival to sign your waiver and receive a wristband. After Wednesday at 5:00 pm, there will be no more online/e-mail signups. Anyone interested in the hike MUST sign up at my booth.

We will be walking an out-and-back section of the Moonville Rail Trail, and those interested can hike with me from Moonville town proper to Ingham Station/Bear Hollow. Along the way, I stop to tell a few short ghost and Bigfoot stories passed along to me, where the things that go bump in the night lurk. The hike is very laid back.

The hike and ghost hunt will take about 2.5 hours. It takes about 30-40 minutes to hike one way at a leisurely pace. However, we move steadily with a few short stops to hear the old folklore and local ghost stories, so it may be too challenging for those with health issues, breathing problems, walking difficulties, or who are out of shape. Returnees are always welcome. I suggest wearing light pants, long sleeves, and bug repellent, as the mosquitoes can be pesky in the swamps of Moonville.

The hike is free. I do take tips! It is approximately 1.5 miles one-way, totaling 3.0 miles on a flat, gravel railroad bed. Each participant must sign a waiver to attend; there are no exceptions. The closest restroom is at Lake Hope State Park, past the beach area. Find out more: https://21crows.com/moonville-ghost-hunts/

Please plan to arrive no later than 8:45. We will leave promptly at 9:00.

Stargazing at John Glenn Astronomy Park FRIDAY & SATURDAY
20531 SR 664-S, Logan;
The John Glenn astronomy Park (JGAP) is open at all times for people to enjoy views of sky, day or night. Just drive up!
On clear Friday and Saturday nights, from March through November, we do “guided stargazing” programs starting a half-hour after sunset. These involve a laser-guided “tour” of the constellations and features of the sky. We will show you the constellations and other features of the sky. Due to the popularity and nature of our telescope viewing programs, which put hundreds of people a night in close proximity to our volunteers, please be considerate of our volunteers and others by not “crowding.”
On many nights Astro-imagers on site will frequently share live views of celestial objects on their computer screens.
Because our parking space is limited, we require visitors to secure a free parking pass for the early evening hours.

July 25-26: Our Home Galaxy: The Milky Way: If you want to know what the Milky Way looks like close up, lookaround. We live in a great spinning, slightly warped, disk of stars, 100,000 light years across. Telescopic highlights on this moonless“dark sky” weekend include: The Great Hercules Globular Cluster, The Ring Nebula, The Veil Nebula (the remnants of an exploding star) and M8 (a stellar nursery in which new stars are being born). 8:45 PM
