The Kalamazoo River Watershed Council and Allegan Conservation District are partnering with us on Saturday, September 12 for a Youth & Family Paddle & Discovery Day! All ages are welcome to enjoy a storytime session and Activity Passport in the park, and then ages 5 and up are invited to learn to paddle in a kayak with KRWC.

Registration is required day-of, ONLY for paddling, with KRWC. You do NOT need to call the library to register ahead of time. Personal watercraft are strictly prohibited due to limited park space.

Want to learn how to sew, but don't know where to start? In Sewing 101, we'll go over the very basics in a workshop designed for beginners!

If you have your own working sewing machine, please bring it. If you don't have your own, one of ours will be available for your use.

This program will take place on Thursday, September 24th at 5:30 PM in the library's Programming Room. Space and materials are limited, so please call us at 269-673-4625 to register.

The Kellogg Bird Sanctuary will be joining us for a Birding Basics presentation on Wednesday, September 9th at 5:30 PM, and we couldn't be more excited! We'll learn to identify birds by sight, sound, habitat, and behavior, go over birdwatching resources, and put our knowledge into practice with a nature walk along the boardwalk. A few pairs of binoculars will be available for participants to borrow, but if you have your own, you are encouraged to bring them. Registration for September's Pintesting on Wednesday, September 2nd is now OPEN! Join us to embellish a baseball cap with a simple embroidered flower. Supplies will be provided, but space is limited. For this fall's Great Lakes, Great Stories series, photographer and historian Jeff Morrison will be visiting us to showcase the most macabre examples of architectural sculpture to be found in the state of Michigan. If you've ever been curious about the Friends of the Library and what they do, come and join one of their meetings to learn more! The Friends meet every 4th Tuesday of the month at 1 PM in the Carnegie Room. Their next meeting is Tuesday, August 25th. Everyone is welcome to join, and we hope to see you there!
