What do you to to keep your mind in a positive mindset? Don’t let the 3 bad encounters make you forget about the 20 good ones and 3 great ones. This goes for work and non-work life. Our minds are powerful, so let’s train them to see and hear the positive….even when it only whispers!

Loved celebrating this group of Nurse Residency graduates from our Critical Care Department. Our different generations can sure learn a lot from each other….as long as we listen. Something I continue to work on (because such a talker and have a busy mind) is to listen to understand, not listen to reply. This could have been spoken directly from my heart.

I never want to become a nurse who just treats a room number or manages a set of vitals. I want to see the human being standing behind the diagnosis—the person with a story, fears, and a family waiting for good news. Clinical skill and sharp medical knowledge get us through the shift, but empathy and genuine compassion are what truly heal people. My goal will always be to give care that treats a patient's dignity with as much respect as their physical body, offering a gentle heart in moments when the world feels loud and frightening. ❤️

Data shows your brain can be re-trained to think positive. One of my retired nurse friends just shared a class she is attending through her church to help her with this. She is the example of “Never stop trying to be better.” That’s a quote I share with the nurse residents at my hospital during my Patient Centered Care presentation.

As I introduce myself as the new Chapter Advisor for Region 2, I figured I would start with a quote. I’m a sucker for a good sunset and a good quote 😀. I look forward to collaborating with all of you and welcoming you to NTI in Indianapolis in 2027! This quote really represents how I try to live my life prioritizing gratitude. I feel like being Critical Care nurse for 25 years has given me many gifts with one of the big ones being Perspective.
