The 3rd Annual Daniel Chapa Memorial Golf Tournament was another truly memorable event.
While the fun has wrapped up, we’ve already pivoted to reviewing applications and preparing for upcoming scholarship nights. These scholarships—made possible through this event—would not exist without so many moving pieces coming together.
Planning begins the very day after the previous tournament ends. Our board members spend countless hours over several months working through every detail. Lead volunteers commit fully to their roles, seeing things through with incredible dedication. Volunteers step in wherever needed, lifting the load and making it all happen.
Throughout the process, materials are printed, items are donated, sponsors generously give, and teams register. On the day of the event, ceremonies begin with a prayer, the national anthem, and Daniel’s children hitting the first ball. Music plays as golfers compete on the course. Cooks prepare meals for golfers to enjoy, and volunteers bag and serve them. Creative prizes are donated for the silent auction. Door prizes are given in hopes of surprising a participant with a special gift. The course staff shows up knowing it will be a long, busy day—and they give their all.
Most importantly, Daniel’s children look forward to this event all year as a way to honor their dad.
It is truly a beautiful labor of love—one that honors Daniel’s legacy while giving back to our community.
