❄️It’s that time of year again when the weather turns cold and kids need new shoes, boots, hats, snow pants and gloves!

💛Last year we started Hilah’s Closet Winter Outreach Program, where we coordinated with Erin, our support caseworker for foster and adoptive families, to provide winter gear for kids in need. We were overwhelmed with the families we were able to help and so blessed with the feedback we received.

💛We were unsure if we would have the funds to do this again for 2025, but support from YOU ALL made that happen! Donations from service groups, clubs and generous individuals provided us this opportunity to serve children in need once again!

💛We also provided Erin with emergency items needed for an infant and several cases of diapers. We even have the funds to again provide care packages to every school in Kossuth County!

💛Thank you for all of your support and for remembering Hilah’s Closet through the year!

💛We have included a ministry flyer from Erin with information regarding becoming a foster parent. They also need families to provide respite care to help foster families when breaks are needed. If you would like more information please message us.

💛Thank you for your generosity Kossuth Regional Health Center Cares Committee!

KRHC Cares Committee dropped off our last donation from 2024 to Hilah's Closet! Hilah's Closet is a non-profit here in Algona dedicated to continuing the good works of Hilah Owen, helping children and families in need of emergency clothing, blankets and basic necessities.

The KRHC Cares Committee is an employee-owned initiative where staff members make a direct impact on our local community by contributing monthly donations to support local non-profit organizations that are chosen by the committee members. This generous group of employees is able to donate around $350 each month to a new non-profit in the area!

🧁Yesterday was Hilah’s Heavenly Birthday. We are honored to report that children in need continue to be helped in her honor.
-Through generous donations we were able to donate complete winter gear and new shoes for 12 children in foster care.
-We continued our outreach by working with our Support Caseworker for Foster and Adoptive families and provided over 30 pairs of much needed sweatpants for children in our area.
-We were also able to donate a variety of coats, boots, underwear and an additional assorted 50 pairs of sweatpants to our Kossuth County Schools.
-In addition to our winter outreach projects, we have also helped other children who have needed emergency clothing and personal items.

🙏Thank you to Hilah’s family for making this possible. Thank you to each individual person, business, and local organization for all of your monetary donations that keep us going. Thank you to Faith Church for giving us a home.

🤗This past year, we were able to help over THIRTY children with new clothing, shoes, quilts and other care items. I say “We” because Hilah’s Closet is truly a combined effort of Hilah’s family, her friends, and our generous community. Everytime we had a need, a donation would come in from somewhere we least expected it.
🙏Every child that was touched is a reminder to us of the passion Hilah had to help others when they needed it most.
🎁Thank you to everyone who has blessed Hilah’s Closet with a donation. You are a difference maker.

💛Thank you to Presbytery Women for their invitation to speak and for their generous donations!

🍁The Presbytery Women met last week. 🍁
Their program was a presentation by Nicole Ferstenau about Hilah’s Closet. Along with a monetary donation, Nicole was presented with the “Wash-a-roos” (kangaroos made of a washcloth and soap) that were made by the kids at VBS this summer! They will be given to children in need.

☀️Blessings keep shining on Hilah’s Closet!

🙏Thank you to the 2024 Vacation Bible School Program from Burt Presbyterian Church. They chose Hilah’s Closet as their ministry to bless this year! And boy did they ever!!!

🙌Over the course of 3 days they raised $4172.59 for our Winter Outreach Program. Together, we will be helping children in need with necessary winter clothing, boots, shoes, etc. (Stayed tuned for more details on that).

💛We also received beautiful prayer quilts from Chapter #730, Prayers & Square Quilting.

✝️Every quilt is tied with a prayer. They provide quilts to the PICU in St. Mary’s in Rochester and anywhere needed.
-Their original goal was to maybe help 25 people. To date they have gifted 2018 to people all move the world.

💛Thank you to Mrs. Christensen and her 3rd grade class for their service project
“Be the Change” and donation to Hilah’s Closet! We appreciate your work and talents!

The students chose charities from our community and then they voted.
Mrs. Christensen said, “It was very special to us to have Hilah’s Closet chosen because we always try to tie our work to present and past students and this ties back to Emmy.”

😃The students worked with local business partner Dan from Forge & Build Algona on this project. Thank you!

❤️Thank you to this amazing group of Algona High School students for their
“Giving Back “project they did as part of their advisory class.
✔️They worked with local businesses and raised enough funds for 50…yes that right, FIFTY Sweatshirts!!! They also donated miscellaneous clothing items and stuffed kitties and puppies to stock the closet!

😊The most precious thing in the world is a smile on a child’s face…
💛We were blessed to have approximately 75 guests attend on Saturday! I wish we would have taken more pics, but we were too busy enjoying ourselves visiting and sharing the why of Hilah’s Closet.
💛Before we could even get a photo of the gift table, the children asked if they could go to work and put the items donated away in the closet! ❤️They worked non-stop until the last item was put in its place (between giving tours that is). They are so excited to help put a smile on the faces of other children with this ministry.
