🎭 Meet Lisa Gaye Dixon — A Storyteller in Every Sense 🎭

Some artists don't just perform stories—they dedicate their lives to telling them.

Lisa Gaye Dixon is an acclaimed actor, director, playwright, poet, and educator whose career has taken her to some of the most respected stages in the United States and abroad. As Professor Emerita of Theatre and Dance at the University of Illinois, she has inspired countless students while continuing to create meaningful work as a performer and director.

Her impressive acting career includes performances with renowned companies such as Steppenwolf Theatre, The Goodman Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the New Globe Theatre, and the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. In addition to her stage work, Lisa has appeared in film and is the author of the one-woman show My Case is Altered: Tales of a 21st Century Roaring Girl.

Lisa's work is driven by a passion for exploring our shared humanity through powerful storytelling—a perspective that makes her a perfect addition to I Hear America Singing, where music, poetry, and stories come together to celebrate the American experience.

Join us for an unforgettable evening featuring an extraordinary cast of performers whose artistry will inspire, entertain, and leave you reflecting long after the final curtain.
