here’s a recap of BG DECA’s past 2 days at ICDC!! ✈️🏙️

yesterday morning, Hope Rooney took her test, and today she completed her role play in Principles of Hospitality. We are so excited to hear her results tomorrow, if she makes top 20, she’ll compete again tomorrow!! we’ll keep everyone updated 🤞🔷

Harper Nelson has spent the last 2 days in the “Elevate” workshop, gaining new leadership skills, networking with other leadership team members from deca chapters around the world, hearing from Navy officers about what it takes to lead, setting goals for our chapter, and bringing back exciting ideas to implement in the Bishop Garrigan DECA chapter! ✨

in between it all, we’ve been exploring Atlanta, checking out restaurants, visiting the College Football Hall of Fame, spending time at Six Flags, and attending a block party with other DECA chapters for even more networking! Then we finished the night with a ferris wheel ride to see the city! 🎢🏈🎡🌃

Day 3 is underway here in beautiful Atlanta, GA! Hope has checked in and competed already this morning in Principles of Hospitality and she’s feeling confident about how she did! Harper checked in for day-2 of her Elevate workshop series where she’s learning new ways to “Elevate” our BG DECA chapter as an officer next year!

I’m incredibly proud of these two, bright and hardworking ladies for all that they have accomplished! They are representing not only Bishop Garrigan with pride and elegance, but they are also positively representing all of Iowa DECA!

The Bishop Garrigan DECA chapter officially arrived in Atlanta, Georgia yesterday for Day 1 of ICDC! We kicked things off with our Iowa opening ceremony and then headed to the official ICDC opening ceremony at Mercedes-Benz Stadium 🏟️

Seeing every chapter announced and each state walk their flag across the stage was such an unreal moment! We also got to hear from inspiring guest speakers like Swoozie and a representative from MDA 🙌

So excited for everything the rest of this week has in store! 🔷✨

Congratulations to freshman Hope Rooney for qualifying and committing to compete at this year’s DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta, Georgia! Her 3rd place finish at the State DECA contest in Principles of Hospitality qualified her to compete and represent the state of Iowa at the International contest April 25th-29th. We wish Hope the best of luck as she competes at DECA’s highest level next month!

Hailee Reutzel being recognized with the M.O.M. Award (Most Outstanding Member) for her dedication, leadership, and commitment well deserved 👏💙

And a massive shoutout to Alex Schwing for earning the 5-Year Advisor Award, thank you for five years of guidance, support, and always believing in your members. We wouldn’t be where we are without you!
