HAPPY WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH (Day 3!) While not officially associated with the Art Force 5, our former Women's Empowerment Draft program was adapted by St. John's University in partnership with the National Women's History Alliance for a new educational campaign called . We will share select icons here and encourage you to search on Instagram for the full lineup. Please consider posting about a local environmental sustainability icon on March 8 for International Women's Day using the hashtags above.
Today's icon is environmentalist Rachel Carson, alumnus of Chatham University who's legacy lives on through the Falk School of Sustainability & Environment as well as other organizations like the medical-focused Silent Spring Institute - named for Carson's book Silent Spring (1962) which documented the environmental harm caused by the pesticide DDT - and sparked a movement for environmental protection.
