Computer CORE’s August 29 e-cycling fair was another great success due to donors like YOU! We received about 2000 pounds of recyclable materials and at least 40 laptops to refurbish. We are filling the shelves again in anticipation of our Fall Term of online classes.

Computer CORE announces a new member of Multi Device Donor Society (MDDS): Teksynap

Bethany Gauldfeldt, Teksynap and Computer CORE intern, Zoila Bedoya delivered/received a donation of 22 Refurbishable Dell laptops, and 37 parts devices at Lonnie's Lab, Computer CORE's hardware workspace.
Thank you to Bethany and the team at Teksynap for these devices. We are gearing up for the upcoming 2026 Fall Term and we have many students and partner organizations that are wanting contemporary devices for clients in need. Computer CORE is holding an electronics donation day Saturday, August 29, 10 am - 12 pm at Fairlington Presbyterian Church, 3846 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22302. Also, donate or recycle other electronics for responsible e-cycling. All contributions are tax deductible.

Computer CORE has distributed the 500 laptops received as a donation from Amazon this spring. The shelves were overflowing and now are empty again. Dedicated volunteer refurbishers re-wiped and imaged each laptop. Digital Navigators, staff and volunteers assisted in distributing each laptop to a digital learner in our community. Our need for more laptops is ongoing. Over 245 adult learners have signed up for our Fall Term. Please check your closets, basements and store rooms for laptops you can donate. Congrats to Donna Walker James on her 7th anniversary as Computer CORE's Executive Director! Building on the success of her predecessors Deb Roepke and Lynn O'Connell and the support of staff, volunteers and students, James shepherded CORE through the pandemic by moving classes online, resulting in increased student enrollment from 200 to 1,000 adults.
