So......a new HO scale layout is currently under construction from the table top up, the bare table top. Approximately 373 running feet of east and west mainlines, over 400 feet if you add in the city loop. Filling a room that is roughly 24 feet by 28 feet. The new layout will highlight the Union Pacific yard in Alexandria, the UTLX plant in Alexandria and the Stella Jones facility in Pineville. There will also be a lot of room for other modeling ideas to be incorporated. If you ever wanted to join in an effort to build and operate a railroad of this magnitude, now is your chance. Prior experience not necessary, but a plus! Only a willingness to learn, work and share ideas are needed. If you're looking for a hobby to get involved with, this is much safer than sky diving! Work days are Friday and Sunday from noon until 2:00 pm. More days possible if there is enough interest. For more information call or stop in at the Tree House Children's Museum any Wednesday thru Saturday! Or you can contact us on this page.

10-13-2024 Well, I have been putting this post off for some time. As the President of the club, it falls to me to create this post. Our model railroad club, "Cenla Model Railroad Club" located in Alexandria, LA has officially closed. Of our membership, we have had some very good friends pass from this world, other good friends have lost interest, and others had life get in the way. We miss them all, and wish everyone well. The club layout, which was handed down to us, is being considered by an active club in Independence, MO for inclusion in their club activities. Myself, Stephen and Lou are the remaining members. We will continue with the Tree House Children's Museum, and actively support the museums Rockwell Railroad. The Rockwell will provide us with a new opportunity. The Rockwell has been operating for over 20 years at the museum. Prior to that it was a private home layout in Alexandria for many years. After it was donated to the museum, it under went a change in configuration to fit the 20 by 26 foot space it lives in. Our visitors to the museum, the children and their parents have enjoyed the railroad and I'm sure will have memories to last a lifetime. The museum has received a generous donation from Union Pacific Railroad (Thank you!) to breathe new life into the Rockwell. Over the next few months you can witness the progress when you visit the museum. If you ever wanted to have a hand in a project like this, contact the museum to see how you can get involved. The new Rockwell will be heavy with UP power to keep things moving into the future.

The club page, this one, will no longer be active or monitored. For more information on the Rockwell, please contact the museum at 318-619-9394

Safe travels!
