The Watershed Warriors Initiative

The Watershed Warriors Initiative We are a student-led 501(c)(3) organization that teaches young students science through the environmental issues found in their own communities.

We bring native wetland plants into the classroom for a hands-on two-day classroom event. The students get the chance to identify wetland plants and plant their own wetland garden at their school. During spring, the student take care of their garden and watch their plants grow. In the summer, students get the opportunity to visit and help restore a local wetland using the plants they grew themselv

es. The Watershed Warriors Initiative began in 2014 in Mary Breslin's life science class and was continued by ACPS student Ana Humphrey in 2015. The project is now run by the Watershed Warriors Club, which was founded January 22, 2016 at T.C. Williams High School.
