ASCP CEO Chad Worz, PharmD, BCGP, FASCP, will provide testimony today at 9:30 a.m. before the Senate Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee regarding access to medication-based treatment for opioid use disorder in long-term care settings.

Older adults are increasingly impacted by the opioid epidemic, with opioid overdose deaths among adults age 55+ rising nearly 10-fold between 1999 and 2019, according to CDC data.

ASCP supports efforts to remove regulatory barriers and expand access to appropriate treatment for residents in skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. Ensuring equitable access to care for vulnerable older adults remains a critical priority.
