We’re inviting submissions for the PAA 2027 Applied Demography Conference, taking place February 17–18, 2027, at Georgetown University’s New Capitol Campus in Washington, DC.

The conference offers applied demographers an opportunity to showcase new work and work in progress, receive feedback, and strengthen professional connections. It will be in-person with no virtual option.

We welcome submissions from researchers and professionals in academia, government, nonprofits, and the private sector, at all career stages.

This Friday, PAA and the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population - IUSSP will kick off the first of two webinars exploring the growing role of AI in demographic research.

Across the two webinars, demographers and other experts will discuss how AI is already being used in the field, how it may shape demographic research in the coming years, and the opportunities and challenges it presents.

Topics will include emerging applications of AI in data collection, analysis, estimation, simulation, and dissemination, as well as its potential to make demographic research more efficient and accessible.

Starting in November 2026, PAA will move to an income-based membership dues model. This new approach recognizes that members are at different career stages and have different financial circumstances.

By tying dues to income, PAA aims to make membership more accessible and equitable while supporting a sustainable future for the Association.
