Eckerd Connects' Opportunity Youth Program Funded by The Rapides Foundation, we engage, empower, and energize opportunities for young adults to overcome barriers to successful education and employment.

The Eckerd Connects’ Opportunity Youth Program will engage, empower, and energize opportunities for young adults to address the barriers to successful education and employment. Serving youth between the ages of 16 through 24 who live in the Rapides or Vernon Parishes and are not currently engaged in an educational program and are unemployed. In partnership with local community connections, Eckerd

Connects will provide support services to connect young adults with opportunities that develop into sustainable career development. This project is funded in part by a Reconnecting CenLA Program Grant from The Rapides Foundation.

🌱 Small Moments, Meaningful Momentum 🌱

Recently, Eckerd Connects’ Opportunity Youth Program (OYP) hosted a Youth Challenge Night in Rapides Parish, bringing together young people and community members for an evening centered on connection, teamwork, and next steps.

Held at the Westside Regional Library in Alexandria, the gathering created space for conversation and relationship‑building while introducing real pathways to education and employment. OYP supports youth ages 16–24 who are not currently in school or working, and the event also welcomed families and community partners who want to support youth success.

The evening wasn’t about big crowds—it was about meaningful interactions, steady encouragement, and helping young people build confidence at their own pace.
