Every five years, AAPOR reviews and proposes amendments to its Code of Professional Ethics and Practices. This continual review ensures the Code not only adequately supports sound and ethical practice in the conduct of public opinion and survey research but also promotes the informed and appropriate use of research results.

Based on member feedback, the Executive Council put forth a revised code, which has been approved by the membership.

Thank you again to the members of the 2025โ€“26 Code Review Committee for their enormous undertaking of reviewing and recommending amendments to the Code: John Abowd, Ned English (Co-Chair), Lindsey Hendren, Krista Jenkins (Co-Chair), Peter Miller, Zach Seeskin.

AI is rapidly reshaping the future of survey researchโ€”from questionnaire design and interviewing to coding, analysis, and reporting. As these technologies evolve, so do the questions surrounding transparency, ethics, quality, and trust.

In response, AAPOR has released a new report from the Task Force on Responsible AI Integration in Survey Research, offering a practical framework for understanding and responsibly implementing AI across the survey research lifecycle.
