June is ! Let's celebrate love, acceptance, and the voices that make a difference. LGBTQIA+ youth are overrepresented in the foster care system and need strong advocacy to ensure their voices are heard in court. SCAN offers programs specifically tailored to support and raise awareness for the unique challenges facing families in the LGBTQIA+ community.

Visit our table at Alexandria City Pride on Saturday, June 1, 2024, or at the Loudoun County Pride Festival on June 2, 2024, to learn more about becoming an advocate for an LGBTQIA+ child in foster care. Together, we can make a difference! 🌈

Please join us for a wonderful free panel event at the end of May focused on centering the lived experiences of survivors of child trauma. We anticipate a rich and robust conversation between intersectional professionals who work with persons with lived experience of trauma. We look forward to hearing from them and you about:
- Centering the survivor in the helping relationship
- The many pathways to healing and safety
- What safety means in a helping relationship for the trauma survivor
- Lived experience, marginality, complex trauma, and “the system”
- Level-setting expectations for others and for yourself when navigating trauma

Please join us if you:
- Are a professional or volunteer working with or on behalf of survivors
- Are a survivor
- Are a supporter of a survivor
