Math to Build On is coming to Vernon Parish! Please join literacy specialist, Angela Huckaby, at The Church International - Rosepine on Thursdays beginning June 11. The Orchard Foundation congratulates 22 early childhood educators who completed our yearlong Growing Reading Brains course! Julie Brandt and Ashley Robinson with The Center for Literacy and Learning led participants through a year-long study and application on the Science of Reading. Through classroom instruction, hands-on activities, collaboration, community of practice, and assessments, these educators are more prepared to help the youngest learners become school-ready and on a path to becoming successful readers.

On Friday, May 8, The Orchard Foundation celebrated the graduation of 14 participants from our yearlong Business Leadership Institute!

These dedicated leaders from childcare and Head Start centers completed professional development through learning modules, small-group coaching around a problem of practice, and pre- and post-assignments designed to strengthen their business leadership knowledge and skills.

During the closing session, participants engaged in their final learning experience, Program Climate and Quality, before welcoming guests to join in the celebration of this important accomplishment.

One participant shared this powerful reflection about the impact of the institute:
“One of the biggest changes I've experienced is becoming more intentional with how I lead and support my team. Specific tools like consistent staff check-ins and goal setting have been especially helpful...Overall, BLI has helped me become a more confident, organized, and intentional leader. I now approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset and feel better equipped to motivate my staff to improve the quality of care in my center.”

On Thursday, May 7, The Orchard Foundation celebrated the graduation of 17 participants from our yearlong Instructional Leadership Institute!

These dedicated leaders from childcare and Head Start centers completed up to 43 hours of professional development through learning modules, small-group coaching around a problem of practice, and pre- and post-assignments designed to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their leadership skills.
During the closing session, participants engaged in their final learning experience, Teaming with Families, before welcoming guests to join in the celebration of this important accomplishment.

One participant shared this powerful reflection about the impact of the institute:
“The most significant change has been the internal shift from being an ‘administrative director’ to an ‘instructional leader’... This means focusing less on just ‘keeping the doors open’ and more on how the staff is supported to reach their next career milestone.”
