Some updates:

1. Next week landscaping is coming and putting down brown mulch so please have your front yard ready: free of dead tree limbs, dead weeds, garbage etc, if you want to put red chips down please put sign in yard for landscapers to NOT put brown down that you're putting your own chips in 2. Last couple of springs WECA cars were broken into at around 1am, please keep any valuables out of your car.
3. Please if you see other neighborhoods using WECA kids playground to have their dogs deficate please tell them it's not allowed nor is it allowed to do such on our private yards. There's 2 big areas on both ends of developments to be used ; kids use grass and WECA residents pay a lot of money to keep their yards looking nice. Complaints of having to fence and replace plants killed by dogs has been bad this year and it's not WECA dogs causing this!
4. Yearly spring cleanup needs volunteers to meet at kids playground — details will be out soon.
5. If you see non WECA residents walking down backs of homes stop them! In the past homes have been broken into from the back. Please tell them it's not permitted it's a private area. Last year kids were caught from Maryland in the back area and reminded about this...they took off in their car with MD license plates... Keep a look out please.
6. A couple of WECA residents have volunteered their time and tools if you need help in your gardens just call Steve Davies to notify them if you need any help.
7. Be careful drive slow — spring has brought children to play in the streets.

Yesterday around 3 PM two individuals used spray paint to vandalize approximately 15 cars in Willow Creek (5 cars) and Woodfield Estates (10 cars). The perpetrators ran down the sidewalk/street on the west side of the town homes spraying paint on various cars.

Fairfax County police were called to take reports from residents whose cars were damaged.

The attached video shows the individuals committing the vandalism. If you have any information on the identity of these individuals please contact Fairfax County police.

On Saturday, November 5th Woodfield Estates Homeowners Association will hold our first resident yard/garage sale. It will be held from 8:30 AM to noon.

Over the years there has been resident interests in being permitted to have their own yard/garage sales. Normal parking regulations will be suspended during the garage sale to permit people to shop at the various yard sales at peoples residences.

We think this will be a great opportunity to test how this community wide yard/garage sale will work. It also gives residents an opportunity to clear out some things before winter.

Please let us know if you have questions.

Please be advised that on 6/23/16 a number of cars were broken into along Woodfield Estates Dr -- as many as 15. Our understanding is many of the cars were unlocked and rifled through looking for valuables. In some cases computers and other valuables were taken.

The police have advised us that home owners should ensure their vehicles are locked and keep all valuables in your house. We have requested added patrols by the Fairfax County Police during the late night hours (midnight to 6 AM). If you observe suspicious persons or behavior please contact the non-emergency phone line for the police: 703-922-0889.

If you notice a car not following the parking regulations in our community and feel compelled to question it, please contact First Service Residential to express your concerns. Please do not leave notes on cars. Thank you.

As many of you know, the weather forecast is showing a strong indication of a Derecho coming into our area late tonight through Thursday evening of this week. Damaging straight-line winds and heavy rainfall are the main threats along with Tornadoes causing flooding, downed trees, power loss and property damage. With that being said, if you have not already done so, please secure any loose items you may have outside. If you must drive over the next few days, please be careful.

If you experience the following during the storm:
· A leak in your home during the storm cut a small hole in the sheet rock to allow it to drain into a pail. This will allow the water to come out of the ceiling.
· A leak from an electrical socket/fixture, turn the breaker off to that area and allow it to drain into a pail.
· Fascia or a gutter is blowing in the wind hitting a window in your home, close the door and stay out of the room if at all possible.
· If a tree should be blown over, please send me an email ([email protected]) or call our Customer Service at 703-385-1133. A contractor will be dispatched after the storm has passed.

Plan Ahead
Play it safe by preparing ahead for the storm.
Remember, these storms can cause loss of electricity, internet and telephone service. It's important to have ample supplies on hand in your home:
· Flashlight and extra batteries.
· Battery-powered NOAA weather radio and portable radio to receive emergency information. These may be your only links to the outside.
· Extra food and bottled water. High energy food, such as dried fruit or candy, and canned food requiring no cooking or refrigeration is best.
· Manual can opener.
· Extra medicine and baby items.
· First-aid supplies.
· Heating fuel. Fuel carriers may not reach you for days after a severe storm.
· Back-up heating source, such as a fireplace, wood stove, space heater, etc.
· Fire extinguisher and smoke detector.
You may want to carry a survival kit in your car that contains:
· Blankets/sleeping bags
· Flashlight with extra batteries
· Knife
· High calorie, non-perishable food
· Shovel
· Tool kit
· Tow rope
· Jumper cables
· Water container
· Compass
· Road maps

Extra change of clothes

Also, keep your vehicles gas tank full, make sure your cell phone is fully charged and have some cash on hand as ATM machines may not work if the power is out.

Please be advised, as another reminder, there is a WECA Board of Directors meeting being held at 7:30 PM on Thursday, November 8th. It is being held at 6074 Franconia Road. Residents are welcome to attend.
