This month we're featuring The Fearless Organization by Amy C. Edmondson. Creating an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and learning from mistakes is essential to strong leadership.

The Fearless Organization explores the concept of psychological safety and how leaders can foster trust, collaboration, and innovation within their teams. These principles are especially meaningful in healthcare, where open communication, diverse perspectives, and continuous learning contribute to stronger teams and better outcomes. Whether you're leading a department or project, serving on a committee, collaborating with colleagues, or growing in your own career, this book offers practical insights that can help you create a workplace where people feel valued and empowered to contribute.

The strongest teams are created when people feel comfortable contributing ideas, asking questions, and sharing perspectives that may differ from those around them. Each of us can help create that environment through small, intentional actions:
-Invite different voices into the conversation.
-Recognize the contributions of others.
-Ask for perspectives that have not yet been heard.
-Remain open to new ideas and approaches.
-Make sure people understand how they can participate and contribute.

Inclusion is not created through one conversation or initiative. It is strengthened through the everyday choices that help people feel seen, respected, and valued.

đź’ˇ Conversation Starter: What's one thing you do that helps others feel included and valued?

Many of us can point to someone who saw potential in us, encouraged us to take the next step, or opened a door at an important moment in our careers.

Sometimes creating opportunities looks like offering advice. Other times it's making an introduction, recommending someone for a new project, recognizing their contributions, or encouraging them to pursue a new challenge.

Creating opportunities for others doesn't require a formal title. It starts with the everyday choices we make to encourage, support, and invest in one another.

Conversation Starter: Who helped create an opportunity for you, and how are you paying that support forward?

Multitasking isn’t a superpower—it’s often a fast track to stress, burnout, and disconnection.

Join PWH for an upcoming webinar with Joe Machicote as we rethink the idea of “work-life balance” and explore a more sustainable path: work-life harmony.

Joe will lead a thoughtful conversation on how busy-ness impacts our well-being, our work, and our relationships—and how we can be more intentional about lowering the volume. If you’re ready to trade constant juggling for a healthier, more grounded approach to leadership and life, this session is for you.
