Friends of Guest House Friends of Guest House helps women successfully reenter the community from incarceration. We provide support through three core programs:

1.

Friends of Guest House, in Northern Virginia, equips formerly incarcerated women and those recovering from addiction with structure, accountability, and supportive services to strengthen their lives. RESIDENTIAL is the most intensive level of support. Up to 30 women at a time live in our residential facilities in Northern Virginia, with an average stay of six months.

2. AFTERCARE continues support to clients who have graduated from the Residential Program and are negotiating the challenges of independent living. Aftercare lasts about 18-24 months. So, the Residential-to-Aftercare continuum is about two years.

3. OUTREACH is a non-residential program for women re-entering the community directly from incarceration. Through those three programs, we provide case management, mental health and substance abuse counseling, life skills training, and direct help or community referrals for issues such as:
> medical care
> education
> vocational training
> employment
> housing
> child custody
> legal problems
> emergency needs (food, clothing, shelter)

Every year, we gather in October to celebrate the women who have successfully completed the Friends of Guest House program.

We hope that you’ll join us as we acknowledge the triumphs these women have accomplished over the past year. Lunch will be provided after the ceremony.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Community showing up supports the reconnection piece of our programs.

Our three vehicles cover about 225 miles a week.

When you drive that much, the repairs never end. Right now it's a windshield replacement along with annual oil changes and tire rotations. Maintenance costs a lot less than an emergency. Your support helps make sure no woman is waiting on a ride that isn't coming.

We're hoping to raise $6,000 to stay ahead of the next repair and help with rising gas costs. A gift of $50, $100, or $500 keeps our vehicles rolling and our gas tanks full.

Thank you to BSA Troop 129 for building this amazing picnic table for the backyard of our Luray house. Making the backyard nicer might seem like a simple thing, but it goes a long way in the recovery of our residents. It creates a sense of community and allows us to host events like Friends and Family Day. With reconnection, relapses are less likely. We can't thank you enough.

Can you help with Friends & Family Day? We need 4-6 more volunteers to help, even an hour or two would make a huge difference!

One of our Five Pillars of Livability is reconnection, and events like these have a big impact on increasing community for the women we serve. You being willing to lend a hand will create a tangible impact on the recovery journeys of these women. Reconnection decreases the chance of women returning to prison, along with creating better family outcomes.
