Friends of Guest House

Friends of Guest House Friends of Guest House helps women successfully reenter the community from incarceration. RESIDENTIAL is the most intensive level of support.

Friends of Guest House helps non-violent female ex-offenders in Northern Virginia through these three programs:

1. Up to 17 women at a time live in our residential facilities in Northern Virginia, with an average stay of three-to-four months.

2. AFTERCARE continues support to clients who have graduated from the Residential Program and are negotiating the challenges of independent living. Afterca

re lasts about six-to-nine months. So, the Residential-to-Aftercare continuum is about one year.

3. OUTREACH is a non-residential program for women re-entering the community directly from incarceration. Through those three programs, we provide case management, mental health and substance abuse counseling, life skills training, and direct help or community referrals for issues such as:
> medical care
> education
> vocational training
> employment
> housing
> child custody
> legal problems
> emergency needs (food, clothing, shelter)

ALSO ...
> We started a SPEAKERS BUREAU in 2008.
> We have recently expanded our assistance to "JUSTICE-INVOLVED" WOMEN: for example, women with a spouse or other family member in jail.

These six boxes of socks will help our residents coming in with nothing feel comfortable. Their recoveries are made easier on so many levels by having the supplies they need to pursue jobs, get sober, connect with others, and reenter society 🫶

The Residents thought the museum was both reflective and beautiful, and it sparked a lot of great conversations. Field trips like these are part of how we provide continuing education and joy in sober activities.
