Good morning folks. I appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication the past few years on helping promote and develop this page and group to being a great resource for hunters and trackers to get together to find deer. Facebook is extremely strict about what is posted and how it’s posted on these social media pages and there is always a worry something this great can be shut down. With that said I have always wanted to build a stand-alone app away from Facebook and their extremely strict rules to handle tracking, and it was inevitable someone would create such an app; and they have. If you haven’t seen it already, I want to formally introduce you to TRAKR. It is a new app developed to streamline the service of connecting trackers and hunters ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. This isn’t just beneficial while your in La, but any state.

With all that said, I’m going to remove most of the resources from this page and slowly migrate this page to more of a page about recoveries and dog stories. Your welcome to stay to learn about tracking and see the awesome stories. However all of my attention and effort to connect hunters and trackers will be through TRAKR.

Get it today for both IOS and Google/Android

We’re here when you need us. No more searching around on social media, calling trackers late at night or trying to remember which buddy may or may not know who to call. TRAKR is your all-in-one game tracking app.

I’ve seen several posts people looking for help with training their dog, or looking for a trainer for their dog. This is our stance on it.

Pic for attention is my 5 month old dog catching a wounded deer by the ear. That’s the drive I want.

1. Only trackers that actively track for LDT will be allowed to advertise training openings here. -The reason for this is the same reason we created this group, we want our reputation to be quality over quantity. That goes for trainers that are getting business off this page as well.

2. Something you all need to think about when your lookin for a trainer.. - your going to pay this person likely a couple grand for them to train your dog. Find a trainer that tracks.. I have seen several names/operations pop up that are advertising training tracking dogs, that I’ve never heard of tracking a deer.. or only tracking a hand full every year. Now maybe I’m alone in the way I view it, but I don’t want someone training anything I have that don’t have experience in the field with it. Remember our goal when training is to replicate actual tracks, if these people aren’t tracking deer they are not truly replicating tracking.

3. Just because they say a dog is ready to work, does not mean your dog is ready for what this page is. Certainly there are some good dogs out there that don’t track with us, but there is A LOT of dogs out there that aren’t worth the dog food they eat. Personally that’s the starting point for a dog, if he’s not interested in it naturally you’ll never have a dog of the caliber we want to see. If your enticing young dogs with Vienna sausages and all that to get them to put their nose down, they will not be a quality dog I don’t care who tells you different. The dog does not have the drive a tracker of any caliber will want. With that said, some of these trainers will do it and take your money and tell you how good they are doing. That’s just theft in my eyes, if I send a dog to someone and it’s not gonna be great, I don’t want to sink any money into the dog for training, to end up with a sub par dog. If he don’t want it, don’t force him to want it. The best dogs all want the job just as bad as we can give it to them.

Grit man with a solo tonight number 7 for him this season. Got home fixing to eat supper and a great friend may as well be family member called needing help. Loaded up decided to run both dogs together to see how it would go. Got some kinks and hiccups to work out but end result was his first deer ever. No good pics we were on a time crunch to get it out and to the processor before closing time.

The only thing better than finding a kids first deer, is for it to be a great buck. We are glad to be able to help on these tracks and make memories with such great folks!

The things you do for friends. Heading on a track with these two. Behind another dog at that. Hopefully we recover it.

Here it is folks. The official 2020 season Louisiana Deer Trackers Map.

The way it works? Simple. Go to the map, find the numbers nearest to you, take that number and compare it to the phone number list.

So for example. If I need a dog in Richland Parish, I’m going to start by getting a phone number for #5, if he can’t make it I’ll get phone numbers for 21,26,36, and 14 then work my way around until I’ve found someone who can make it to me. This removes the middle man, you can call who you want!
