Anyone near Alexandria need some spent grain ???

👩‍🌾 Attention Farmers

Were in need of someone to come to our Huck Grounds on occasion and pick up our spent grains.

Here’s what it entails:

1. We reach out when the barrels are full and schedule a time for you to pick up our barrels for your animals.

*I think they are 55 gallon drums & only a couple are filled each time a brew is complete.

2. You return the barrels at our leisurely scheduled communication.

3. Grain is FREE & on average the pickup is between 2-3 weeks.

4. We need someone very very reliable, their word in helping our business is upheld and they are very communicative. Thanks! 🍻

5. Please share. 🐮

If this is something your interested in, please give Huck’s Coordinator Britt a call 503-999-1748.

Cheers!

Join us to learn from Ben Hartman of Clay Bottom Farm about his approach to plastic-free farming and gardening!

In this workshop, Ben Hartman, author of The Lean Farm, will show how to grow food without plastic. Plastics like landscaping fabric and plastic plug flats are a massive source of waste--for farmers and for the planet. Although plastics have invaded small-scale farming, they aren't necessary. Ben will show how he and his crew used lean thinking to eliminate plastic at Clay Bottom Farm, employing biodegradable alternatives like burlap, sisal twine, and newspaper pots to seed, mulch, trellis, and sell crops without plastic--and without sacrificing profits. It is possible to grow food without polluting the planet.

Amazing speakers and peer to peer learning is going to make this the event of the season!!!!

We’re excited to welcome **Nancy Williams** as the keynote speaker for the 2026 SOLA Food Summit! 🌱

Nancy has spent decades working at the intersection of agriculture, entrepreneurship, food security, and community development.

As Co-Founder and former President/CEO of No More Empty Pots, she helped grow a grassroots organization into a powerful force for food systems change, generating more than **$100 million in economic impact** in the Omaha metro.

Now, she’s bringing that experience and perspective to Lafayette, LA.

If you care about where our food comes from, the people who grow it, stronger local economies, or what’s possible when communities work together, this is a conversation you’ll want to be part of.

🌾 **The SOLA Food Summit is getting closer. Don’t wait to join us.**

Vital work from Louisiana farmer, horticulture agent, and educator Audrey Rene Kolde.
Shade cloth, like everything, comes with nuance. Check out this amazing resource to understand how you might get better results with shade clothe on your farm!!!

This time of year, shade can be a lifesaver! 🌱 ⛱️

Full sun isn't always a good thing for crops. In July and August, it can result in partial or even total crop loss in some parts of the U.S. Investing in shade structures can pay for itself quickly when the temperatures climb and cause even warm-season crops to struggle.

Learn how to install your own basic, low-tech shade structures in this ATTRA blog: https://buff.ly/CZFtufV
