Campbell County will conduct its monthly test of the outdoor warning sirens this Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 12:00 noon.

Sirens will sound as scheduled unless inclement weather is in the area at the time of the test.

Remember, outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors and may not be heard inside your home or other buildings. During an actual emergency, use multiple ways to receive weather and emergency information.

BURNING RESTRICTIONS VS. BURN BANS

With Kentucky’s fall fire season beginning Oct. 1, it’s important to understand the difference between seasonal burning restrictions and a burn ban.

Seasonal restrictions limit when outdoor burning can take place near woodlands or brushlands during designated times of the year. A burn ban is different and may prohibit most or all outdoor burning when conditions create an increased fire risk.

Before you burn, know which rules are in effect and always use caution. Even when burning is permitted, dry conditions can allow a fire to spread quickly.

𝗖𝗩𝗚 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟-𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗘 𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗬 𝗘𝗫𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗢𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗢𝗪
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 18, from 9-11:30 a.m.

If you’re traveling through or passing by the airport Friday morning, you may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles, CVG staff, first responders and actors participating in emergency response training.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆. 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 and there will be no interruptions with air traffic or surrounding roadways.

The exercise gives CVG staff, local first responders and area hospitals an opportunity to train together and strengthen their coordinated response to an emergency.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆. As part of the exercise, ambulances will transport actors portraying patients to hospitals throughout the region, including Fort Thomas. The exercise will simulate a collision between two aircraft on the ground.

The scale of the exercise includes:

• More than 700 participants
• More than 90 participating agencies
• More than 150 volunteers

Twenty-five years ago, first responders answered the call at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Many did not return. Campbell County Fiscal Court remembers their sacrifice and honors the fire, rescue, and police personnel who serve our community with that same courage.

When a loved one goes missing, for the family, minutes can seem like days. They call 911 looking for someone to respond who has the training and knowledge to help find them quickly and efficiently. You can be that person.

Campbell County LandSAR is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team. As a volunteer division of the Campbell County Office of Emergency Management we serve Campbell County, Northern Kentucky, and respond to callouts state-wide. When our community faces its toughest moments, we are the ones who answer the call to bring missing people home safely.

We are looking for dedicated individuals willing to commit to regular training and respond to emergency deployments. People who can maintain a reliable, positive attitude in critical situations.

By joining our team, you will learn lifesaving and specialized rescue skills, advanced search tracking and tactics, and wilderness survival and navigation.

No prior experience is necessary. We provide all the specialized training you need to become a skilled search professional at no cost.

Campbell County’s Fall Cleanup is Oct. 9 and 10, giving residents an opportunity to clear out unwanted items and dispose of them at three convenient locations across the county.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, residents can drop off furniture, mattresses, yard debris, trash and electronics. The Campbell County Road Department location will also accept appliances, scrap metal, lead-acid batteries, propane tanks and up to eight tires.
