A spinnerbait has a wire arm that sticks out with one or two metal blades that spin as you retrieve it. Those spinning blades flash and flutter through the water, which creates a mix of visual attaction and subtle vibration. A chatterbait on the other hand, is all about vibration. Instead of spinning blades, it has a flat, hex-shaped blade directly in front of the jighead. So when you reel it in, that blade wobbles hard side to side, making the whole lure shake and pulse through the water.
