A huge thank you to Curcio Law for powering up The Fund as one of our event sponsors for our Retro Arcade Fundraiser at Continues on September 24!

We first connected with the Curcio team through a national initiative where firms across the country stuffed duffel bags or backpacks with essentials for children in foster care. Since the Fund had already received a large donation of duffel bags, Curcio Law immediately pivoted and focused on gathering the everyday essentials our foster youth truly need — toiletries, skin and hair care products, diapers, and so much more.

Their generosity was so abundant that we were able to share this love with the ALX Closet as well, supporting even more families across Alexandria. And when we met their team in person, they were just as warm, thoughtful, and community‑minded as their donation suggested.

Now, they’ve stepped up again as sponsors for our Retro Arcade Fundraiser. Their support keeps leveling up, and we’re so grateful to have them on our community leaderboard.

Some days, the kindness of our community takes our breath away.

Thanks to the generosity of Capital One in McLean, VA and Foster Love, the Fund for Alexandria’s Child received 35 brand‑new 20" Schwinn bikes and helmets for our foster youth. This incredible gift is already making a difference in ways that matter.

Before we even picked them up, 10 bikes had already been claimed by DCHS social workers for their kids. And today, something unforgettable happened.

A mom visited the ALX Closet on behalf of her family of ten — including eight children — after a devastating fire destroyed their home. They lost absolutely everything. She shared how hard it’s been for the kids, especially after losing all their toys and belongings.

When she learned we had bikes to give, her entire face lit up. She couldn’t stop smiling. She kept saying she couldn’t wait for her kids to see their bikes when she brought them home. In a moment filled with loss, you gave this family a reason to smile again.

Capital One and Foster Love, thank you for the joy you’ve brought to this family and to so many of our foster youth. These bikes will go quickly — and they will make a huge difference for every child who receives one.

Every now and then, we’re reminded of just how big a child’s heart can be.

A small group of young friends sent us a handwritten note and six dollars to help children in foster care. They didn’t have to do it. They simply wanted to. And in that moment, they showed us something beautiful. Their gift wasn’t about the amount. It was about children helping children… kids lifting up other kids they’ve never met, just because they believe everyone deserves to feel cared for.

To Nora, Mary Beth, Sophie, and Makayla — your generosity lit up our day. You reminded us that compassion starts early, and that even the smallest hands can make a big difference. ❤️
