Today, on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we rejoice that Mary was taken body and soul into heavenly glory. 💙

Mary’s Assumption, body and soul into Heaven, is more than a Marian privilege—it is a sign of hope for all of us, pointing toward the resurrection and eternal life promised in Christ. Her Assumption turns our eyes toward our own eternal destiny and reminds us that Heaven is our true home.

***The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15 is typically observed as a Holy Day of Obligation, requiring the faithful to attend Mass. However, because Aug. 15 falls on a Saturday, the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated (temporarily suspended) for the faithful in the United States this year.***

Today, the Church celebrates Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe, a Franciscan priest, missionary, publisher, and martyr of charity whose life was completely consumed by love for Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
He willingly traded his life to save another prisoner in the starvation bunker of Auschwitz. It was a deep, human act of love in a place designed to destroy humanity. St. Maximilian Kolbe reminds us that Christian love is not merely something we feel. It is a choice to remain merciful when the world is cruel, to see Christ in another’s suffering, and to love even when love demands sacrifice.

Today the Church celebrates the feast of Blessed Michael McGivney.

His legacy is found not only in the Knights of Columbus, the organization he founded, but in the countless lives strengthened through faith, charity, and fraternity. His example reminds us that everyday holiness can have an extraordinary impact when it is rooted in love for Christ and service to others.
