Many of you have contacted me regarding the tryout on Saturday, March 14th. I was holding out hope but unfortunately all school and community fields have been closed. The Faifax County Colts tryouts have been cancelled.

Last night, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), announced that they were suspending school sports until April 12, 2020 in response to the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

I will send out additional updates as I receive additional information regarding future tryouts.

The Fairfax County Colts will be hosting a Free Tryout on March 14th, 2020 from 10:30 AM to Noon at West Potomac High School in Alexandria, VA and March 22, 2020 from 1:00PM - 3:00 PM at Bishop Ireton High School. The Free Tryouts are for players ages 10 to 15 years old in the 5th – 8th grade. (Players cannot be in High School)

The Fairfax County Colts Free Tryout provides technique and position-specific training for athletes interested in developing their talent. Additionally, the Mini-Camp provides the venue for athletes to be scouted for the 2020 Fairfax County Colts Spring All-Star High School Development team.

We will be scouting for the 2020 Fairfax County Colts Spring All-Star High School Development teams. We are putting together one team at each grade level; 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The teams fill up extremely fast, so if you're interested, please have your athlete attend the tryout or contact me with any questions.

Tryout #1: March 14th

West Potomac High School

6500 Quander Rd,

Tryout #2: March 22nd

Bishop Ireton High School

201 Cambridge Rd.

Alexandria, VA 22314

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

*Dress in athletic clothing and appropriate for the weather. Bring water or a sports drink for breaks. No water will be provided.

Reminder:

We have moved the practice location. Practice will be held at Lee District Park, 6601 Telegraph Rd, Alexandria, VA 22310. Practice goes from 6:00 PM to dark. We moved practice so it's more accessible to people off of 95. If you have any players that are interested, tomorrow Tuesday, April 10th will be the last day for them to come out. We are looking for kids at all grades 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th.

The cost to participate is only $100 and equipment and uniform is included. Please register at fhyaa.org, football and cheer, register online.

April 29, 2018: 1st Game: University of Maryland

Parents,

For the past three weeks I have been in contact with Fairfax County Community Services in hopes of working out a practice location that would be convenient for the Spring league. I was unable to do so due to the demand on field space by Soccer and Lacrosse. It's with deep regret that I will have to cancel the spring teams. I had hoped that we would work out something at the last minute but it didn't happen. The first games are on April 29th and two weeks wouldn't be sufficient to get the kids ready for such a demanding league and the high level of competition.

I would like to thank everyone that supported our mini camps in March. I will pass your email addresses to Coach Henderson in case he still wants to put together a middle school 7 on 7 team for the spring.

For those that paid the league registration fee early, please allow 4-6 weeks for the treasurer to send you a check. I will submit the refund paperwork tomorrow.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience this may of caused in your scheduling but I tried my best to make the season happen.

Here are the things you need to know!

I am working with the county on practice fields as I type and should have it locked down my mid next week.

- Practices will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00 PM to dark. Location: TBD

- GYFL Combine: I'm sorry for the late notice but the GYFL will be conducting a combine tomorrow 3/25. I highly suggest you attend!

This will give the kids an idea of how they stack up against kids in their grade and age. There will be top level public and private high schools in attendance to teach kids position training and how to prepare for running combine events.

The Fairfax County Colts High School Development Team is hosting their 2nd camp this Sunday, March 12th from 6 - 8 PM at Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria Va. Position training conducted by local High School coaches. We are looking for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade football players. If you live or know any serious football players in Northern Virginia, please share this with them!

The first camp was a huge success! The Fairfax County Colts High School Development Team will be hosting another camp on Sunday March12 from 6-8PM at Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria, Va. Position training will be taught by local high school coaches. Get signed up! We are looking for 5th-8th grade kids that want to get better!
