Wishcycling—putting something in the recycling bin in the hopes that it will be recycled.

This happens when people don’t know what can be recycled or they believe the item can be made into a useful item.

In Fairfax County, as a general rule, the only materials that can be recycled curbside are:
-cardboard & cartons
-paper
-metal cans (aluminum and tin)
-plastic containers (bottles, jars, dairy)

Do you have any empty planters catching rain? Is your gutter not draining like it used to? Empty containers and clogged drains are mosquito territory. Check around your home for standing water the next time it rains! 🌧

Mosquitoes can breed in standing water inside clogged gutters and drain pipes.

hosted almost 300 residents for , the annual celebration of first responders. Thank you to our friends in Fairfax County Police and Fairfax Fire and Rescue for everything you do to keep us safe.

Residents had the opportunity to check out equipment and talk to them about their important jobs. We also made balloon art, wrote encouraging messages with sidewalk chalk, and danced with our friends. The highlight was almost certainly a flyover from the Fairfax County Police helicopter!

Thank you to the many first responders, Franconia Station Commander Jonathan Bobel, Supervisor Rodney Lusk, and Delegate Garrett McGuire for participating. Thank you to Kim Barber for helping us organize activities. Thank you to Mission BBQ, Scoops2U, and Brunchella for catering this event. is celebrating tonight at the Snyder Center. is a national event for meeting and celebrating our first responders. All residents are welcome!

⚠️Overflow parking will be on Lake Village Drive. Residents are encouraged to walk or bike if able. The South Van Dorn Street entrance for the Snyder Center lot and adjacent parking spots will be closed. Please be courteous to our neighbors by NOT parking on Waterfield Road.
