TIPS FOR ENJOYING THE POOL
Arrival – Please check in at the desk and pay the daily admission fee or swipe your pass (fees are listed below). In the event that the pool is at maximum capacity, a staff member will ask you to wait to enter until space becomes available. If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home.

Masks – Face masks are required indoors for unvaccinated patrons and unaccompanied youth under 18 years of age. Face masks are not allowed in the water, as they present a choking/drowning hazard when wet. You can keep your mask dry by placing it in your gym bag or bringing a plastic container for it (such as a sandwich bag or food container).

Check the Alexandria City Aquatics page for more info and about hours and fees.

When the weather heats up, cool off in one of the City's outdoor or indoor pools.

As the end of summer approaches, you'll want to get in swimming before the outdoor pools close in Alexandria. The three city-run outdoor pools and NOVA Parks' Great Waves Waterpark generally close in early September. If you're a dog owner, there's something else to look forward to afterward.

In the weeks after the pools close, Your Dog's Best Friends will host two dog swim events. The first event on Friday, Sept. 20 is for dogs under 50 pounds. It will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Memorial Pool at Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street.
The other event on Saturday, Sept. 21 is for dogs of any size. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Old Town Pool, 1609 Cameron Street.

Both events are free, but dog owners should register through the city's website. Dog handlers should be 16 or older and bring their own doggie water dishes. All dogs should wear current vaccination tags, or proof of vaccinations must be shown.

Another dog swim will happen at Great Waves Waterpark on Sept.7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $5 and can be paid at the door. Dog owners must fill out a waiver form and bring it to the event.

Security Enhancements and Law Enforcement Partnerships at Warwick Pool

For Immediate Release: August 1, 2019

Throughout the month of July, occurrences of overnight water contamination resulted in intermittent temporary closures of Warwick Pool (3301 Landover St.). As a result, the Alexandria Police Department has increased presence in the area. And, to protect City property and minimize the impact on pool operations and the public, additional lighting and security cameras have been installed.

In an effort to heighten awareness of crime prevention and strengthen law enforcement community partnerships, the Alexandria Police Department and other City agencies will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. at various locations across Alexandria. Warwick Park (3301 Landover St.), which is adjacent to the outdoor pool, will be a host site for Warwick Village Citizens Association.

For more information, contact Laura Durham, Division Chief, at [email protected] or 703.746.5450.
