Founded in 1927, the Club Management Association of America is the largest professional association for managers of membership clubs with 8,100 members throughout the US and internationally. Our manager members operate more than 2,500 country, golf, athletic, city, faculty, military, town and yacht clubs. The objectives of the Association are to promote and advance friendly relations among persons

connected with the management of clubs and other associations of similar character; to encourage the education and advancement of members; and to assist club officers and members, through their managers, to secure the utmost in efficient and successful operations.

The first Business Management Institute was held at Georgia State University in 1988. Developed by Joe Perdue, CCM, CHE, the BMI program is now flourishing. What began as a five-level professional development program has grown into 11 individual seminars and an exam review course. BMI takes attendees across the country and around the world, serving those in entry-level positions to senior-level executives.

1733 King Street, also known as CMAA's current headquarters, opened for business in 1989. Since the 1950s, CMAA's offices have been located in the Washington, DC-area, having moved several times around the region. But in 1989, the current building was purchased and it has been CMAA's home ever since!
