Our Youth Field Experience to Duluth gave us all lots to think about and I am sure we will carry the conversations forward into the coming months.

Peace Bell
We explored the story of the Peace Bell and talked about what it means to be at war with other nations. We will continue to explore scripture, specifically Chapter 3 of Ecclesiastes, There is a time for Every Season, and ask questions about what it
means for us in the 21st century.

McGhie Memorial
Together, we learned about the tragic murders of three men and we took time to reflect on the brutal reality of our nation's past and the history of slavery in America, specifically Minnesota. We continue to consider scripture and its complicated relationship with Empire and slavery and how it informs who we are as Christians and followers of Jesus.

Gooseberry Falls
While at Gooseberry Falls, we explored nature and talked about ecology and our responsibility as stewards of the earth. Our Christian values inform us on how to be in communion with creation. What does that mean and what implications might it have on how we live our lives in the 21st century?

Glensheen Mansion
As we toured the mansion, we took time to stop and talk about family systems, blended families, complicated life stories and reflected on Old Testament scripture and the storied lives of our ancestors from Moses and Aaron to Ruth and the story of Esther.

Wednesday, June 19, 6:00-7:30 at Brophy Park
Wednesday, July 17, 6:00-7:30 at the church
Wednesday, August 14, 6:00-7:30 at Brophy Park
Preschool – Grade 6 We will share a meal, a short Bible lesson, craft, game, and take time to enjoy all our location has to offer. When we are at Brophy Park, we will not have the shelter reserved, but we will find a place to have a picnic; we can play on the playground, go for a walk, and maybe even fish off the pier. On the evening we are scheduled to be at the church, we will have pizza, play on the swing set, and participate in activities provided by the Pizza Oven. If the weather is rainy, we will move Brophy Park gatherings to the church. Whether you can make it to one, two, or all events, we will be happy to see you there! All are welcome - no need to register. We ask that parents of preschoolers stay onsite to help supervise their child(ren).

Youth Group at Alexandria United Methodist Church
Did you know that we have Wednesday Night Youth Group?!
Join us!

This week, another fabulous night of fellowship!

We enjoyed a hot meal, played a round of Apples to Apples, had a good discussion about social norms, watched an episode of WWYD (What Would You Do with host John Quinones, https://youtu.be/gk5er_Ar4hc?si=W9ZNCpjm_0By9yBI), and then headed outdoors for games, conversation, closing with a prayer for world peace at our campfire.

Confirmation Kick-off at Camp Koronis, March 10-11, with Pr. Amy, exploring The Faithful Five: Join Confirmation classes from all over Minnesota as we explore The Faithful Five commitments of church members:
Contact Pr. Amy or Ginger to get registered with our group, 320-763-4624. Costs will be covered by our youth ministry program funds. Transportation can be provided if we know in advance.
United Methodists vow to faithfully participate in the church's ministries by their prayers, their presence, their gifts, their service, and their witness. What does this mean for Confirmands preparing to become part of the church? How do we incorporate these practices into our everyday rhythms?
How do these rules impact our lives today? How do they shape the faith we practice in the world? Pastor Chris Carr will help us understand and unpack these ideas in the two-day retreat.
Enjoy some fun at Koronis Ministries, including the gym, the game room, rock climbing wall, hiking, and other outdoor fun (weather-permitting).
Groups should eat before arriving. Registration and check-in starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10. Program begins at 7 p.m. Groups will depart by 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 11.

We had a fantastic time at the Conference Youth Day, "The Event"! Thank you to our C/Y/F Team: Amy Rieke, Jess Tripp, Pr. Amy, and special thanks to Pr. Yolanda Williams of the Glenwood United Parish who joined us with her youth program!

Nearly 200 youth and chaperones from 24 churches participated in “The Event” and learned about what it means to be rooted in Christ’s love.
