The future of our field isn’t something we simply wait for, it’s being shaped by the people in this room.

As AER President Dr. Rebecca Renshaw opened our General Session, she shared a powerful reminder: our hope for the future is each of you. Every educator, rehabilitation professional, researcher, student, and advocate gathered here has the power to make a lasting impact on the lives of people who are blind, have low vision, or are deafblind.

As we begin this conference together, let’s learn from one another, share our stories, and continue building a stronger future for our profession and the communities we serve.

Welcome to AER 2026! The future starts here.
