Food benefits are changing, and families should not have to navigate the changes alone.

Swipe through to learn about Virginia’s SNAP changes, who may be affected, and what steps to take to protect the benefits you qualify for. For neighbors already struggling to afford groceries, losing food assistance can mean harder choices between food, rent, and medicine.

United Community is helping clients understand the changes, read notices, and identify their next steps. If you receive a SNAP notice, act quickly and ask for help—exceptions may apply, and children may still qualify even if a parent does not.

SNAP rules have changed, bringing new work requirements for more adults, changes to who qualifies, and added paperwork for some household expenses. For a community already facing high levels of food insecurity, these changes could make it harder for families to keep food on the table.

Understanding the rules and what steps to take can help neighbors keep the benefits they qualify for.

United Community is offering special office hours to help our clients learn about these changes and get answers to their questions.

Your support of our Fall Food Campaign helps us share clear information and connect neighbors with food and other basic needs. today to help keep our community informed, supported, and fed.

As VA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) rules change, families need clear information about what these updates mean and what steps to take.

We all know the basics of good nutrition. The four food groups. Three meals a day. But along Richmond Highway, more than 18,000 of our neighbors, including children and seniors, don’t always know where their next meal will come from.

Today is and the start of United Community’s fall campaign. From now through Thanksgiving, we’ll share what hunger looks like in our community and how you can help.
