πŸŽ‰ Community in Action: Psi Alpha Alpha & Bernie L. Bates Foundation Support the ALX South Block Party

The Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the Bernie L. Bates Foundation, Inc. were proud to volunteer alongside United Community at the 2026 ALX South Block Party, helping bring families, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations together for a day centered on connection, resources, and uplift.

Held at Bryant High School, the event was much more than a community celebration. Families had access to health and wellness resources, local organizations, children’s activities, food, entertainment, and opportunities to connect with services designed to strengthen households throughout South Alexandria and southeast Fairfax County.

That is where the impact matters most.

United Community serves neighbors facing challenges such as food insecurity and financial hardship, and events like the ALX South Block Party create an opportunity to meet families where they are, strengthen relationships, and connect residents with organizations and resources that can make a difference long after the celebration ends.

For Psi Alpha Alpha and the Bernie L. Bates Foundation, volunteering is about more than showing up. It is about standing alongside the organizations doing the work, strengthening the network of support surrounding our families, and helping build a community where every neighbor has an opportunity to thrive.

We thank United Community, its staff, volunteers, partners, and participating organizations for bringing the community together and allowing us to contribute to this meaningful effort.

πŸŽ‰βœŠπŸΎ Juneteenth & Community Day in Historic Gum Springs βœŠπŸΎπŸŽ‰

Today, the men of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Bernie L. Bates Foundation were honored to participate in the Gum Springs Juneteenth & Community Day Celebration, bringing neighbors together, fostering local pride, and strengthening the bonds that make this community so special.

As one of the oldest African American communities in Virginia, Gum Springs has a rich history, resilient spirit, and proud legacy worth celebrating. This Juneteenth, we had the privilege of honoring that heritage while recognizing the contributions of those who helped build and sustain this historic community.

The event featured numerous vendors, community organizations, health and wellness resources, entertainment, and activities for families of all ages. And, of course, the Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha were on the grill, serving up burgers, hot dogs, and chicken skewers to help keep everyone fueled while enjoying the festivities.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and celebrate alongside our neighbors. Community service is at the heart of what we do, and we are always proud to do our part to uplift the communities we call home.

πŸŽ™οΈ Beyond the Silence: BYOMM Panel Discussion

Some conversations are difficult. That does not make them any less important.

Join us on June 8, 2026, for Beyond the Silence, a powerful BYOMM panel discussion designed to foster honest dialogue, share lived experiences, and explore the importance of community, support, and healing.

Our distinguished panelists will bring their professional expertise and personal perspectives to help educate, inspire, and encourage meaningful action. Through authentic conversation, we hope to empower men, particularly Black men, to recognize the strength found in connection, vulnerability, and open communication.

Together, we can break barriers, challenge stigmas, and create pathways toward healthier individuals, families, and communities.

The conversation starts when the silence ends.
